As passionate as I am about my fetish, the community gives me pause

I have what's often referred to as a 'belly punching fetish'. You can look it up yourself. There'll be countless search results and a whole world you probably didn't even know existed. But the thing of it is, a lot of the times, it is unbearably, even almost painfully, obvious how much this fetish revolves around horny male producers making videos of female models in the most ridiculous situations. That's the porn side of it, and it is cringy. You can see how much the women don't actually want to be there. If one of them winked at the camera and said, 'Oh yeah, I've always had a thing for getting punched in my stomach, it's the one thing that gets me off!', it'd make me gag.

Like, girl, you know you're only there for the money, and that you secretly think these men are idiots, and that you want to put something on over that skimpy bikini, and to drink some water after roughing up your throat making the dumbest gasping noises to fake punches, and that you know you yourself look like an idiot with your eyes rolled back and tongue sticking out to said fake punches.

It gives me the worst secondhand embarrassment watching it all, and yet I highly doubt the firsthand embarrassment existed to begin with on the part of the producers.

It's slightly better on the non-porn side of it. When you see amateur bedroom videos of couples who actually seem to be into it. Then again, you also see amateur videos of women who are clearly wanting to make their boyfriends happy even when they look unsure about it, and the boyfriends failing to read the room and going overboard with the punching, like stop, my guy.

It makes me embarrassed, but it also kind of makes me ashamed to even have this fetish, even though I know in my heart of hearts there's nothing inherently wrong with it. I'm a non-binary AFAB myself. I have my own reasons for why this sort of thing gets me off and could write a whole essay on the subject, but I just can't with the community that surrounds it.

Aside from men being horrible, I also feel kind of lonely because there doesn't really seem to be others like me who are into this sort of thing. And the people who aren't into it exist in either one of two camps: the deviants who don't really get it but won't kink shame either, and the karens who can only assume the worst cos they see the word punch and think it must only be extreme.

Yes, some idiots do take it too far, but that goes with any fetish, no?

I dunno. Maybe I'm being a karen, too. But I don't exactly think I'm wrong here either. I wish I had a better community. Then again, it's probably ridiculous to expect better when our fetish has as dumb a name as it does.

I'll be 100% honest with you as a someone in camp one... I cannot imagine the number of people who actually want to get punched in the midsection is high. Of the ones that would want that, I gotta assume the majority is men.

Theres nothing wrong with your kink if it's all consensual and there's no long-term damage, but it's like any small-audience kink... there's almost no money in making good content. And when that's the case, there is not gonna be a lot of good content.

Just from what I've learned over the years, it seems that in general, men develop this fetish because it's a way for them to show off their abs, and they get off on that sexually. Women tend to get into this fetish because it's a form of breath play to them. Again, speaking generally. But beyond that, yeah, there aren't that many of us.

I don't think people should bother trying to make money off of it, honestly. What's the point. Just do something else.

About a year ago and change, I went down a "superhero" fetish hole. I know that's really random but it started with someone recommending a graphic novel and then trying to understand the MCU (I know i totally missed the boat with that being popular) but eventually I was like oh my god, there's sooooo much info. Anyway, so then I was like mmmm is there porn of this. A lot of it fell into that cringe fest that you mention. Not a lot actually, 100% of it. I think that abruptly ended my curiosity with that fetish aspect. Well almost ended.

Oof. I'm sorry you had to witness all that TT Also, I'm currently in the same boat with the Percy Jackson series. lol. But yeah, it's... I dunno. I actually looked up the proper name for this fetish so I wouldn't have to keep calling it something dumb and childish, and it's called alvinolagnia. Just a fetish involving the tummy, and you can branch off from there. My point being that it can dissolve into cringe, but I think there is beauty just in the source material, if not in the porn people make about the source material. So yeah, I'd stick with that and ignore everything else. lol.

One of my absolute favourite comic book runs is Birds of Prey by Gail Simone, about an all-female superhero team from DC Comics. I like that I can simultaneously feel empowered by it and have an escape from reality but also just make up wild fantasies in my mind that I can file away for an appropriate time. It just works.

Superhero comics haven't held my attention for a while. I prefer comics that either try to really capture a new world or tell a unique story. The best part about them is that the artists for such stories are more than happy to draw nudity instead of simply implying it.

Thanks and maybe I'll give it another try. The graphic novel that got me down this road was called Jupiter's Legacy, it was so much fun and I saw there was a netflix show (which was not so bueno) but that had me jump over to read marvel stuff and watch MCU stuff.

I've started picking up DC stuff here and there and I think i remember Birds of Prey are Batman adjacent. I'll look into them some more.

Ive been reading something called "Crave" pretty much individual comic issues given to me. (I think he said there's one issue left) Its about college students and like an app that makes people do dangerous/sexy things. Its definitely different from the Marvel/DC super hero stuff, with nudity. Definitely has me peeked.

I think that exists in superhero sandboxes as well, but I get your point. There will always be constraints unless it's built entirely from the ground up as your own thing.

There's probably also some good fanfiction out there, but I haven't checked it out myself. Ooh, I haven't heard of it, but the premise is intriguing.

The characters definitely have a lot of ties to Batman. Also, the movie isn't that faithful to the books, but it's good in its own right.

I think you'd like the books. Chuck Dixon wrote the original BoP comics, but you can skip them. Gail Simone had really iconic moments, like this one for Black Canary:

Lol, I could go on and on about good, non-superhero comics. But I'd derail the thread entirely at that point.

Lol, I feel it's been derailed well enough already, but in a good way xD There's not much more to say on the main subject, anyway, tbh.

I feel this way about the CFNM fetish. I’m totally into it, but the vast majority of it seems to be humiliation or domination, which I’m not into at all.

I like women flipping the script on men and enjoying our bodies for a change, but I seem to be in the extreme minority in that group.

But I’ll keep on fighting the good fight looking for that perfect subset who are into my version of it.

I wish you all the best c: But even if you don't find people, even just dancing alone to your own beat is surely worth it.

I guess for me it's a bit of a weird thing. Humiliation and domination are parts of it for me, just not to the extent that it is for so many others who share my fetish. I think it's just important to remember that the people we partner with are still human beings at the end of the day, just like us. I dunno if that plays into CFNM issues as well.
