Army of one (open to one woman)

I wriggled back against him as I grabbed his pool cue. He was being SO helpful like this. Together, we managed to sink a few more balls. I liked feeling him close, but I knew somehow, some way, this wouldn't last.

As anticipated, someone finally found the time to walk into the pool room. I felt Ryan scramble up as I still held the stick and my gaze flickered up at the intrusion.

Sergeant no-name.

Oh God.

I felt the man's eyes shift between Ryan and myself and I tried to remain calm. I rose from my current position slowly and set the stick, butt down on the floor in front of me as I held it.

I felt something coming on. For a second I wondered if our pool game was going to get cut short.

I didn't know his name, until now but I recognize the face. It was the sergeant me nearly ran into one we were leaving battalion. He stood there in the doorway in his uniform and stared coldly at us for a moment.we had been caught in a compromising position to say the least and staring at him waiting for response you felt the cold chill roll up our spine.
"are you two enjoying yourselves?" He asked in a low, gruff voice as his eyes flicked from me to Amanda. Taking a few steps inside he saw her blouse cast aside then as us once again.

"What are your names?" He asked. That's when I knew we were in trouble.

"Private Ryan Lennox" I replied and he nodded.

"I'm Sergeant Cyrus" Then turned towards Amanda and a smile curled around his half pursed lips. "And you?"

I stood up just a little straighter, as if my short frame could possibly grow any taller. I knew who this man was, and for some reason, fate kept putting him in my path.

I met the sergeant's gaze without fear and forced myself to stop breathing so damned fast. I didn't need anything singling me out. I was already out of uniform, but considering what I was doing, it wasn't out of the ordinary.

Not knowing just how he would react, I reverted to my norm, laid the stick down on the table and assumed the position of parade rest. some NCOs didn't mind us being somewhat laid back, but this guy was new. When in doubt, do the right thing. He was a rank above me and would be treated as such. I was headed to the board soon and I didn't need anything to hinder that.

I am Specialist Amanda Soren, Sergeant Cyrus. I waited to see what his response would be.

He looked at her and I could tell by the slight movements in his eye brows and lips that he liking what he was seeing in her. He was slightly dark in skin tone with dark brown eyes and dirty blonde hair in a crew cut, slightly squared jaw and a powerful frame and his uniform was crisp as if freshly ironed and his boots bloused.

"Okay, specialist" he said emphasizing her rank then turned over to me and pointed a finger, "You, Private. Drop" them pointed at the floor.

I spent a moment in confusion then slowly fell to my hands and knees into front leaning rest. "Keep going until I tell you yo stop" Cyrus said. He wanted pushup and I started pumping them out as he stood just off of my head, arms folded in front of his chest and looking down at me. I didn't understand what I did wrong but he was superior in rank.

I knew it.

I absolutely knew it. Ryan hadn't stroked the NCO's ego, so he was down there pushing up daisies. I wondered how long he'd keep him down there.

I didn't look at Ryan, I knew if I did, it would just make things more difficult for him. Plus, I hadn't been given leave to move yet, though he did acknowledge me. I was waiting for the magic words.

I couldn't wait to make that next rank.

I tried not to stare overly at Sergeant Cyrus, though it was hard to ignore the powerful frame that stood in front of me. The dirty blonde hair was cut so short there was nothing to grab on to, and that was half the fun. Everything he was... dark, broad, authoritative... was in contrast to Ryan.

The only thing I could see were his boots and his words as she moved in a little closer to Amanda, eyes looking her over. He liked what he saw and he was keeping her in her place. "Specialist," he said looking down at her, "You mind telling me why I come to this place and find you, one: out of uniform, and two: in a compromising position with a subordinate?"
There was growl to his words as he looked at me still pumping slowly so I didn't strain myself as this could go on for hours.

"You know, specialist, I can and would have filled for Article 15 for both of your assessment for this."

My ears perked. I knew what that meant: extra duty, cut in pay, confinement to base or barracks and loss of rank. Shit I didn't want that. It goes on my records.

I took a chance. I knew he could make this really bad for both of us.

"Request permission to explain, Sergeant," I asked.

He nodded. I guess I was somewhat entertaining in his mind.

"There's no excuse for being out of uniform. In respect to the compromising position, I was having trouble with my form and requested assistance. That is all. I could have asked a superior for similar assistance, but none was available at the time."

Maybe that would appease him.

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow then looked at me. I was still pumping. With one hand he stroked his smooth chin then looked Amanda from top to bottom. He appeared to have accepted this though it was still hard to grasp the exact way I was "assisting" her.

"Okay" he nodded then held up a hand to her, "You go ahead and relax, specialist." Then he looked down at me and stomped a boot just inches from my face. "You. Stand up!"

My arms were sore and ached as I tucked my legs into my chest and stood up slowly ensuring that I didn't get light headed as I erected myself beside Amanda. Looking straight ahead I stood in at ease with hands behind my back. Cyrus stood before me or well above me as he was taller and growled, "Private" again emphasizing rank "explain yourself. This little game and this condition that I've found you in. It looks like you two were about to bang. Is that right?"

I shook my head lightly "No, sergeant" I replied "Just helping her game."

Thank goodness. I didn't look a gift horse in the mouth and relaxed. While Cyrus was trying to get an answer out of Ryan I reached over to retrieve my uniform top and donned it, slowly zipping it back up to obfuscate some of my more obvious curves.

As expected, Ryan gave the same answer I did. The beauty of it was I actually did ask him to assist with helping to perfect the shot. It wasn't a lie in any way.

I did notice the wolffish look in Sergeant Cyrus' gaze. It was as if he were looking at the next lamb. I tried to dismiss it, but his chiseled features stood out and I couldn't ignore the way he was looking at me. For a split second I felt a pang of lust out of curiosity. Wondering what a frame like that would feel like...oh hell no. What kind of screwed up thought was that. Here he was harassing Ryan and my fricken subconscious was on an entirely different level. Unacceptable. There was no way a man like that would ever get between my legs. He was a bully. Bullies suck!

He kept grilling me, wanting to know where I was from and trying to get me tripped up in my answers, but I wouldn't budge. I was merely helping the specialist and I thank God that he didn't see my bone that had been formed when I was grinding on her backside because he had forced me to do push ups. Good thing also because I could've used it as a kick stand.

Cyrus looked us over and noticed that she had covered herself with her top and there was a bit of disappointment in his face is seeing that no doubt wanting to see her curves. "Lennox, what was your last PT score?"

Thought for a moment and replied 280, sergeant" that was the highest I have ever achieved and I was proud of it but Cyrus wasn't.

"What is that shit?" He growled. "I got 300 last time, fatty cake! I don't want fatty cakes in my unit. If you want soft duties then go join the chair force!"

Oh God. Not another one of those that had to have the perfect 300 Master Fitness Gurus. I sighed. Guys like that made life miserable.

I raised my brow when he was talking about the "chair force." Another gruntish attitude. This guy was getting better and better. The more he opened his mouth, the less appealing he was.

I waited patiently until the guy was done "asserting" himself.

By now my elbows and biceps were aching and my chest was hurting from the exertion but I could catch my breath in just a few minutes but only after Cyrus left but he continued to linger around looking us over as we continued to remain rigid with our hands behind our backs.

"You, Lennox. You married?" He asked.

"No, sergeant" I replied.

"Girlfriend?"

That was it. That is what he was going for. Trying to find our relationship between me and Amanda. I tried to think of a way out of it without saying but either way there would be consequences for either answer but I nodded "Yes, Sergeant" but I was careful not to point out Amanda even though it was obvious now. I was willing to bet that afterwards I would pay for this but after our meeting and passionate sex, what would you call it? Certainty wouldn't be right to call it 'friends with benefits' because she wasn't my fuck buddy and I wouldn't ever call her that, but Cyrus continued to look us over. He was tall and powerful and I knew that when looking at me he thought Amanda could do better..
.like being with him. Having been in all male squads and knew he was chomping at the bit to get a piece of her.

I continued to listen as Sergeant Cyrus continued to press Ryan for information. What did it matter if Ryan was married or anything else? It was none of his concern unless it caused an issue at work.

Cyrus' gaze continued to shift between Ryan and me. I had had enough. This was ridiculous. I had to intervene. Let's see if I could disengage him from Ryan.

I cleared my throat, "Is that all you need, Sergeant Cyrus?" I asked with a smile. "I'm on my way back to the barracks and need an escort. You know, travel in twos..." I added, brushing my fingertips across my bottom lip briefly, waiting for his reply.

Amanda wanted to leave. Can't blame her, but the way she said it made it feel she was going for either me or him and to my surprise Cyrus nodded, "Okay. Sure. I'll take you. Can't let a pretty young thing like you go around here unprotected." With a beaming smile he began to walk with her towards the door leaving me, or rather forgetting about me. Perhaps that was the plan all along. It worked. They were gone without another word spoken to me and i was left with a half game of pool and a diminishing boner.

"Well...shit" growling at myself and balling my fists. This wasn't over. I also knew that nothing was going to happen between her and the sergeant nut there was always that lingering worry in the back of my mind. In the distance I could hear him talking about himself "Yeah. I put in for assault and then Ranger. Got to get them tabs" even though that answer was not solicited.

I grit my teeth as the sergeant talked all about himself. I guess if that was the only way to get him away from Ryan, so it would be. The sergeant was somewhat attractive as long as he didn't open his mouth. I didn't care about all the tabs. I didn't care about his perfect PT score. Hell, I didn't care about his perfect abs. I tried to appear attentive as we walked.

"So you really maxed out at 300 on your last PT test?" I asked him. "You must work out every day," I added, appearing interested.

It was a 10 minute walk back to my barracks. I hoped in that time, mister ego would have forgotten everything and I could text Ryan when I got back.

"Yep" he smiled "two hours every day. One hour of running and sprints and another hour dedicated to something different: abs, biceps, legs and that sort of thing. Maxed it out and got a 13 minute even run!". As he walked he tried to show them off and be sly like pointing with his hands to flex but it was hard to discern that with his top. About half way to the barracks he realized that the two of them were alone. His cover was on and his eyes were looking about for some sort of strange figure he believed was following them.

By that time I was on my way to my own barracks and would await Amanda to call to say that the coast was clear or some other plan. I had a feeling that if they went even up to her door he would linger about for awhile, to see if I would show up. I gritted my teeth and growled as Cyrus looked at her and slowed his pace so he can look at her backside.

I couldn't tear up someone who wanted to be the best he could be, but, it was obvious he was comfortable talking all about himself. I continued to smile and be pleasant.

"You must have some killer abs and thighs, then," I responded. "Bet your wife or girlfriend loves that."

I realized after I said it I probably should have avoided that. I didn't want any more attention thrown my way. Too late now. He was like a hound of war, tethered to a thick chain, straining against it, and I was just beyond his reach.

This was going to be a long 10 minutes.

"Oh. I'm not married" he said with a smile. "Not married, no girlfriend, and no kids" he liked it that way. No responsibility. But with that she unwillingly opened another can of worms. Turning to her he asked, "What about you? Any boyfriends or girlfriends?" Lips pulled back in a beaming smile showing his perfectly straight pearl white teeth. "Anyone would be damn glad to have someone as pretty as you to wake up to in the morning." In this moment he was arrogant and open, confident they were alone.

When I reached my barracks I put my phone on the counter and waited, going about and cleaning and trying to keep myself occupied until she called me to say that she made it back. Every minute it dragged on and the more I worried about her. Cyrus was well built and powerful and I worried that he would use that to thunder fuck her or something that kept gnawing at the back of my head.

It figured. Men like that just took and gave little. It was no surprise he didn't claim having a relationship. He could soldier all day, work out, have the occasional fuck and move on. Stick and move, right?

His smile impressed me even less.

"Boyfriend. A new one, in fact." I answered. I wasn't going to expand on it and I tried to distract him from that line of questioning. I could see my building getting closer. It would only be another few minutes before I reached the door.

"So what do you do when you're not at work?"

"I work out, you know. I'm going to be inheriting a squad here soon. I'm going to whip them into shape and have everyone of them beat the PT score with 300 across the board.I figure everyone around here is been soft enough we need to whip them into shape if we are going to be deployed again & I do not want anyone lagging about or being lazy this is NOT the Air Force this is the army We need to be professionals and we need to be in shape for a fight!" he was surprisingly passionate in his devotion to this cause.he also said he was promoted recently and transferred over from another unit rather abruptly which was surprising considering he did not feel it was necessary. He also said that he did not like the old unit saying that they were all fat and soft. "if there's one thing I hate most of all this people being fat and lazy."

But as they entered for barracks they were greeted by the CQ who was just about to leave. Cyrus knew that this was the end of the line for him there was not going to be a way that she would allow him to follow her all the way up to her room. He smiled at her and then said "I will be seeing you around try not to get into anymore trouble"

I turned back to Sergeant Cyrus

"If I do find myself in trouble, I'll make sure to yell out for you," I said, smiling back.

"Thanks for the walk back, I appreciate you taking time out of your day."

I made my way back to my room. When I was secure behind the door, I let out a sigh and pulled out my phone and started texting Ryan.

"Got back safe and sound. He's gone! What a hot rod that one is. I hope you're not going to be associated with him in any way! Gods!"

The phone vibrated and I leapt for it. Reading her message I smiled. She was safe and not with him. I typed back, "Yeah. I hope I'm not. What did you guys do on the walk back?" Eager for details. Here I was no as concerned as a school girl in high school texting her friends after a date but it was exhilarating to say the least that he didn't try to fuck her or slip a fast one on her during their walk.

After sending out that message I followed up with another, "It's a shame that we didn't get to finish our little game..who do you think won?"

I saw the message come in and grinned reading it.

I typed back:

"He talked about himself most of the way back, though he asked if I had a boyfriend/girlfriend. I told him I have a boyfriend, and a new one at that!. He didn't get any further than the CQ Desk, so don't fret."

"The guy is an obsessive careerist who doesn't want anything to tie him down. He's a work-a-holic who spends all his time at work, working out, and finding a quick fuck on the occasion. That's not worth anyone's time, let alone mine."

"I don't know who won, but, I'm willing to settle for a tie."

I smiled reading her messages. Good. At least she didn't show any interest in the jerk. Though his physical appearance was certainly better than mine it wasn't to her liking.

"I'll settle for a tie" I wrote, "but them how do we break it? A game of darts?" If we were to do that then I would try to make sure that we get better privacy than the rec room. I could go to the BX and buy a dart board but my room was small, perhaps too small for a good game. It left me scratching my chin. After sending out the last message and waiting for her reply I went to the mirror in my room and looked myself over. I certainly was no sgt. Cyrus, not tall, dark, and handsome. Someone that would get the ladies going but I did have Amanda and when she said having a new boyfriend I smiled and saved the message in the files.

I texted back:

"I have no idea, but whatever it is, it better be far away from that new sergeant. He's a piece of work."

I laughed to myself. It was amazing how that hot shot figured he was mister universe. I shook my head. Oh well, there was always one in every unit.
