I used to, but I deleted them the moment I saw them. I'm allowed to moderate my comments and I chose to delete the abuse and insults. He gave up leaving insults that disappeared within a couple of hours.

Yes. Just yesterday I had a comment to one of my stories that began with "This idiot writer . . . "

At this point I just take it in stride. It's just part of the scenery.

Anonymous insults are the one kind of comment I simply delete. Any criticism of the text is fine, no matter how dumb or irrelevant I think it is or (I like to think) no matter how much it bothers me. But get personal and you have no right to be read.

What amazes me is. They log into a site designed to host erotic literature. Each category explains what you can expect to find within.
Then the crazies start preaching about sex... Hello... What did they expect to find?
I will second what @EmilyMiller said.
Once you have a little following group of haters. They will cross category's to 1 bomb you.
If like me, you don't care about the score, then have at it.

I suppose I've been lucky. I get very few hate comments, even from Anons.

I do get weird ones from time to time.

Like this gentleman, who was apparently very upset that the father in my story My Daughter, The Nudist didn't actually fuck his own daughter:

I’ve wondered what is going on in some people’s heads for them to write those comments. Having a bad day and wanting to take it out on someone? Or maybe they are just jerks most of the time in most areas of their lives. You know the type… they try to lift themselves up be tearing others done.

First off, let me say this: I am always open to genuine constructive feedback. If someone tells me that my story wasn't good, and then proceeds to politely and objectively explain why, I appreciate that. It's the "Your story sucks, and I hope you die" kind of comments that I'm referring to.

Secondly, I realize that I'm putting a target on my back since I've posted a lot in Loving Wives.

However, I get a sense it's just a few, maybe even the same person, harassing me because the comments are always similar. And perhaps that's my true question to any of you who have had a similar experience: do you think it's the same person or the same few people responsible?

Yes, you're going to get those no matter what you do.

My advice is to just delete the comments from the people who are too chicken to show themselves, and you just keep writing for you.

My first post were in the LW section and yep, the haters were out in force. I do t give a flying f%@k about them or the fact they hit me with the shittish score they can.

Nearly all are anonymous so my conclusion is that they are either religious nutjobs or mainly guys who've been on the receiving end in a dodgy relationship and think by abusing authors man's them up.

Ironically they talk about me not being a man. I laugh, as it cracks me up some limp dicked individual has been upset by my words thay have been strung together. In real life I have to deal with far tougher individuals than those that hide behind being an anonymous turd.

I'll take criticism, heck I'm an amateur doing this for fun. If Iwas talking your money feel free otherwise just move on, at worse politely tell me its not your style.

I try to put a bit of a preamble in now to warn those easily offended. I did miss something in one of my latest works, A Flaming Christmas, in that I failed to mention a potential suicide. So obvious, but I missed it.

Enough rambling.I've a nice piece based on the real life experiences of a serial cheater for early next year to rile the haters. Will give me a good chuckle over my morning coffee reading comments they've wasted their precious time on writing thinking it'll hurt whereas it'll bounce off my thick hide

Sometimes; not frequently. I just delete them and go on about my business.

I think a lot of the negative anon comments may come from the same individual. Similarity in tone and sentence structure give them away.

I actually had one "Anonymous" user go on a tangent about how much my story sucked and I couldn't write and he just went off on me. I politely replied to him (I can't remember what I said, and I have long since removed the post). The next thing that I know he sends me an email through Lit to apologize profusely and to praise me for the story. He was having a really bad day and I just happen to have triggered something in him. I thanked him for his apology and his much kinder words. It was just odd! another user went on a rant about women who shave versus women who don't. Stubble, razor burns, pimples and ingrown hairs, seepage....the guy was just graphic. He got deleted as well. I keep good constructive comments up and delete the bullshit posts.
