Well another volume of Empowered came out this week, and I rushed off to buy it this weekend, so as I'm sort those who follow my threads have seen this coming for awhile.

THE IC THREAD

Synopsis: Megalopolis is a city with a high concentration of super humans. The catch is that even super heroes are sometimes a little bit dysfunctional.

Setting: Megalopolis is a rather large city with a high concentration of humans who had developed, or somehow come across powers that the average human would not normally possess, however, with them being super, if you expected the majority of them to be normal, you are sadly mistaken. There are several banks, because it is a big city and normal people need to do their banking somewhere, and super villains need somewhere to rob. There are several hospitals because super heroes and super villains often need treatment after their battles, and normal people can get caught up in the fray. Still there are places that are a haven for the people who were looking for a quiet life. after all, everyone wants a nice house with a front yard and a white picket fence, don't they?

Character Skeleton:
Real Name:
Your character's real name.
Super Name:
Most super humans who are worth their salt have a super name. Whether it be "Meager Man" or "Major Awesomeness" a super human's super name is as much a part of them as their powers.
Age:
Remember to consider your character's age, and Lit's rules. If you're too young you might not score any hot super loving.
Appearance:
Descriptions and pictures are both welcome. Remember if you change into a super suit, you might want to describe that for us too.
Origin:
This is less daunting then the word makes it seem. An "Origin" is the source of your super powers. Basic origins are, Technology, Magic, Science, Alien, Mutation, and Natural. Technology would include gadgets, Magic is exactly what it sounds like. Science could be anything from a super soldier serum to a horrible lab accident gone wrong. Aliens are people who come from other worlds, Mutations are people who develop strange super viruses or were simply born with their super abilities, and Naturals are those people who lack super powers and simply fight with the limitations of the normal human body (martial artists, ninjas, thugs, etc.)
Powers:
What can you do? (Natural Origin doesn't need to fill this out. For Magic and Technology origin general statements like "Spells" and "Gadgets" can be used, since you might learn or make more, and it would be silly to have batman take everything out of his utility belt to do an inventory, after all, he has bat-shark deterrent spray in there.)
Bio:
Every super human needs a back story. Why did you become a hero/heroine, or a villain/villainess? What events formed you and made you who you are? Really, tell us what happened in that first comic book that you were in.

Plot: Oh, there will be plot, don't worry. With a super hero story, you can almost be sure that the plot will have something to do with taking over the world, but don't count your chickens before they hatch.
In the end the biggest plot is the clash between heroes and villains that is standard to every super hero story. It is up to discussion which is why this is an OOC and not just a casting call.

The Profile Skeleton (in a user friendly format) and Accepted Characters
Real Name:
Super Name:
Age:
Appearance:
Origin:
Powers:
Bio:

Player: Bluemage
Real Name: William "Will" Johnathan Power
Super Name: Captain Awful
Age: 23
Appearance: A skinny man with a slightly pasty complexion. He has short spiky dark brown hair, and brilliant emerald green eyes. His super suit consists of his normal clothes, a white lab coat, and a pair of blast goggles.
Origin: Technology
Powers: Gadgets
Bio: William was the son of Maxwell and Irene Power. His father was a great super villain known as "Doctor Volt", and was a master of electrical gadgets. He died early in William's life when one of his inventions, the "Arc Cannon" went out of control, sending enough voltage through his body to sear skin, stop his heart, and cook several of his internal organs.
During highschool, he was a brilliant young man, and everyone knows what that means. He was marked as a geek and nerd, and to this day has yet to date, or even experience that 'first kiss' that everyone keeps telling him about. Because of the trouble that he faced as a child, he developed a little bit of an introverted personality in high school and made it his dream to follow his father's dream of becoming a super villain.
Unfortunately for William, his gadgets are rarely as good as his fathers, due in part, to a bad case of ADD, and a low amount of funds. Death Rays don't grow on trees, and neither do the parts, or the money to get parts. Because of this it would be optimistic of him to consider himself a D-Rank villain. He makes attempts at bank heists, but just doesn't seem to have the attitude, or the firepower to actually pull any of them off.

Player: Mephistophelily
Real Name: Katarina "Kat" DeVaul
Super Name: Switch
Age: 26
Appearance: http://th06.deviantart.net/fs45/300W/f/2009/063/e/c/ec5df754ca771dd23642483392bceb99.jpg
Origin: Her abilities are focused in magic, though Kat never actually studied magic itself. Her father was a transmutation specialist as well, making Kat's childhood quite interesting- and quite dangerous.
Powers: Transmutation - Can make stuff into other stuff. Only holds as long as she's focused, and can only do one item at a time.
Bio: Raised with transmutation as a normal part of her life, Kat was surprised to learn that others didn't know how to do it. Her realization on this came after being suspended from school after a few 'changes' to the building. Over time, she understood that her abilities were meant to be only used on special occasions, learning further from her father on the dangers of over-using them. The biggest example of these dangers came from a mistake on her father's part- a poorly planned transmutation transformed the man into a stuffed elephant.

Player: Lady Reiha
Real Name: Biotech Beauty 4.0 Codename: B.B
Super Name: B.B
Age: 5, however appears to look between 18 to 21
Appearance:
Female_Terminator_by_blackmage9.jpg

However; can be adjusted to look any way William wishes her to.
Origin: Technology, Science
Powers: Basic android strength, agility and speed. She can also speak over 100 languages and has basic computer access ( ie./ a walking, talking personal PC ).
Bio: B.B was first introduced into the world simply as a class project. William created at first; a simple female robotic shell with a speech limited to 20 phases. As William graduated; he took B.B home and uploaded an advanced (yet free) copy of a speech package as well as tuning her to move much like a human but with a few "alterations". B.B became William's only friend and companion and knows everything about him. Designed to be only his, B.B can only take commands from him and is extremely obiedient.
Since she is his companion, William has developed a fondness for B.B and considers her "the perfect woman". However, B.B lacks human emotions and does not understand love or any other humanistic emotions, which strives William to have goals, one being that he completes B.B to be the perfect android, and equip her with weapons and eventually human characteristics. Until he obtains the funding he needs, B.B remains an emotionless android with a desire to do what she is told.

Played by: RpFemale
Real Name: Ana Packwyn (Yes, pronounced like the actress; Sorry, but I'm a "True Blood" fan)
"Super" Name: Random Citizen
Age: 20
Appearance: http://53rg10.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/zeronotsukaima_tiffaniawestwood.jpg (Minus the elven ears)
Origin: Well...her mommy and daddy loved each other very much, and...one thing lead to another...and nine months later, she was born.
Powers: Nothing really, though she has an involuntary hypnotic effect on most men and the occasional woman.
Bio: A young woman living on her own, who works as a bank teller (as does a large majority of the city, due to the many banks in the city). As a result, she's often in the wrong place at the wrong time, but at least there's a monthly bonus for hazard pay. And she hasn't been hurt...okay, not too seriously...and the super good/evil people she meets at the robberies are usually kinda hot. Both the men and women.

Played by: Bluemage
Real Name: 372
Super Name: Char
Age: 32
Appearance: http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs40/i/2009/037/c/6/Fire_Elemental_by_LethalIndustries.jpg
Origin: Science
Powers: Fire Manipulation/Creation
Bio: Char is an entirely artificially created entity. At the dawn of superpowers, humans were concerned about the threat that these super heroes might present to them and started working on experiments to create a super hero who could defend them in the event that someone with super heroes went mad or drunk with power and turned against the populace. Char was part of a special project called Project Element, and was meant to have 3 siblings who would have elemental powers similar to his own (water, earth, and wind), however his siblings were all deemed failed projects for one reason or another. Char was the only one who was deemed viable, and was kept in stasis should humanity ever need him to save them from the super humans who called themselves heroes.
Some years later, the Super Code (a set of rules and regulations that the supers use to govern themselves. Think of it like good manners.) was made public. This code outlined unacceptable behavior, such as supers murdering other supers, and other unsavory actions. The code was made public to show that even super humans would be subject to some form of law, even if they had to govern themselves. This brought an end to the secret projects meant to protect humanity from super humans, and the project was all but forgotten...that is, until Char made his escape.
Char is an exceptionally powerful super villain (he would have to be, since he was created to eliminate super humans) and doesn't really understand why he was created or what he is. With his exceptional power he does whatever he sees fit. So far, he has managed to stay under the radar, which has been helped by the government disavowing any knowledge of his existence, and his attacks mostly looking like normal house fires, but it can never be certain when he will make the move to becoming a true threat, both to normal humans, and to super humans.

Unfortunately for Simon, the Olympics he was due to attend were canclled on account of war. The year was 1940. And so, instead of marathons, Simon was running between trenches, doing his best to make the other side as dead as possible. Unfortunately the war effort wasn't going well, and when the army asked some of their finest soldiers to volunteer for a new program, Simon was the first with his hand up. The program involved scientists mixing his blood with fragments from a meteorite they had found. It possessed interesting qualities, and they were hoping that it would somehow affect a human in a postive way. They couldn't have been more pleased. Simon posessed great speed, strength and durability, as well as the ability to fly! He turned the tide of the war around all by himself. His enemies weren't about to give up, however. They had their own experiments cooking; namely those involved with time travel. Simon was sent to stop whatever they were planning, and he did so with ease. Unfortunately, one of the enemy scientists managed one final play, sending Simon into the future! He now lives in current day Megalopolis, bringing with him outdated ideals and civic pride. He's determined to be a shining example to those who would falter at the altar of morality... but he's finding it hard with all these empowered women around!

He saw an old lady trying to cross the street, but having trouble and laiden with groceries, and so he stopped and helped her. The hunched over old lady was very appreciative, and as Paul took the groceries into her house, they got to talking. He ended up telling her all about his troubles, but she only smiled, patted his face and told him he wouldn't have to worry about not being able to be in two places as at once any more.
Later that day, Paul discovered he had the ability to make copies of himself! He attributed the new ability to the old lady, but when he went back to her house to thank her, all he found was an empty lot. Deciding to turn his fortunes around, he became a superhero! Oh wow, Blue. This game looks absolutely awesome. How would I go about joining?

Well, Blue, that's a good question. The easiest answer is to fill out the profile skeleton with your desired hero or villain.

Oh, I don't know, Blue. That sounds pretty hard. Are you sure that I can do it?

Don't worry, Blue! It's as easy as pie. Even the slowest, and weakest RPer could fill out a profile like this.

Well...I don't know, Blue...maybe if I had some help...

Alright, Blue! I'll walk you through it. You've copied the Profile Skeleton, right?

Why yes I have, Blue. That was the first thing I did.

Well, the first few fields are easy. Things like Name, Super Name, Age, and Appearance are (mostly) standard to every game. The only thing that might give you trouble is the difference between "Real Name" and "Super Name"

You're right, Blue. I did find that a little bit challenging. What is the difference between Real Name and Super Name?

Well, Blue, it's rather simple. You know how Peter Parker is Spiderman, right? They are the same person. Peter Parker is the name he has when he is a normal person, but when he pulls on his mask he becomes Spiderman!

Ah, well, that's great, Blue, but what if I don't need one of those?

So wait...you are thinking about a character that just goes by his real name, like Jean Grey of the X-men, or most of the characters in anime and manga? Well in that case you would just write "Not Applicable" beside the Super Name slot.

Well, actually I was just thinking about a character who is completely normal in every way. I mean, obviously a big city like Megalopolis needs normal civilians. People who write for news papers, and just random business men, right?

Well obviously you'd do the same thing in that situation and write "Not Applicable" in the Super Name slot.

But what about that "Origin" Slot? Is that like a Bio?

No, that's why there is a Bio slot. Origin is really the source of your power.

Ooooooh! Well, that makes everything easy. I guess I wouldn't fill that in if I was a normal person, right?

Well, Blue, you could fill it in with Natural, since you're a natural person, but really it doesn't matter.

Well, Blue. Thanks for the little walk through. Powers and Biography are pretty self explanatory. Maybe I can join this game after all.

Well, Blue, it doesn't look like anyone is really interested in this game.

Oh, don't worry, Blue, that's just par for the course. Apparently none of my ideas are good these days, so I'm not entirely surprised.

So what is going to happen to this brilliant game idea of no one joins?

Well, Blue, that's a good question, but I'm afraid that the answer is a little bit of a downer. If no one shows any interest, than this game, just like every other game that I've tried to start only to have no one show any interest in will probably just fall off the first page and never be seen from again.

Wow, that's pretty brutal, Blue. Does that happen all of the time?

Unfortunately, yes it does, Blue.

Well, it'll probably take me a week before I have enough people to do this game, so you've got plenty of time to think up a character if you want to play.

Real Name: Katarina "Kat" DeVaul

Super Name: Switch

(Sorry if it seems short. My brain is still catching up.)

I love it.

Blue... why is it that everytime I'm in a rp with you, we're always opposites?

:p

I enjoy your little q & a between yourself and er... yourself (?)

I'm thinking about it.

I haven' t finished reading you're argument with yourself but I shall join. But now I gotta think of a brilliant bio

So.. if I join, my idea would basically be that for once, I would want to be on equal footing with you. Since all evil villians need a sidekick, what if my questionable char is yours?

She'd be a companion-android that Captain Awful made during a shop class in highschool. She isn't anything really special except she accepts any orders he gives her. She's suppose to be evil- and basically she has the generic android-y characteristics ( ie/. Strength, Agility, Cold-expressionless face, no emotion what-so-ever).

As for the "any orders" Captain Awful gives her, there's a catch: She doesn't have ANY human emotions, so therefore; asking for a kiss or some "action"- she doesn't know what that is and can't comprehend how to do it, no matter how simplified it's explained to her. There is a program out there to install into her system that Captain Awful can obtain but it's uber expensive and considering that he's well.. poor; it's like a dream he could never, ever get.

What do you think? If you approve it, I'll join ^-^

That actually sounds awesome.

You should definitely do it, but you need to put it into the profile skeleton.

*sits on Blue's head* What do you take me for? Someone who's never been in a RP?

I'm working on the bio right now <3

Sorry to be a brat Blue, but I changed my pic and a bit of my bio ^-^" ( as you can see). Could you just update that in your first post?:heart::heart:

Well Blue, this does indeed sound pretty awesome. In fact, I was around for a previous round of the same, under a previous screen name (Remember the character "Mental Casey" by chance? Yrp, so you know my skill level...be that good or bad). My only concern is not being able to post more than once or twice a day, and may even go a bit without being able to post at all...damn you, real life. Do you see this being a problem and/or annoyance? This time around, I'd just be a random citizen, by the oh-so-awesome name of Random Citizen, so less certral to the plot, but still...well, that's my concern. If I get the thumbs up from you and the cast, I'll get up a bio for myself.

All in all, do take care, and make with the awesome-ness I recall from before.

You should totally join. I remember Mental Casey.

I think what this thread needs to take off is a central plot, and I think I might have something.
