A primer for dopes that don't understand the "Defund the Police" slogan

Sort of a Fast&Furious inspired action?

(The timeline might be off there, but I could not resist the cheap joke.)

Maybe I should take up Tweeting...

It sounds easier than golf when it comes to a hole-in-one.

North Hollywood bank shootout. Prior to that was the incident down in Dade County FL. where the FBI had their asses handed to them.

It's such an unreal disconnect
on the part of people who use terms
like defund and demilitarize (and demoralize).

On any given day there’s a chance of something like that happening.

They can either plan for it and be sued and condemned for their response or not plan and be sued and condemned for their lack of response.

A lack of response, that will just encourage more of the same.

Paul McCartney croons

Give Seattle back to AntiFa
don't make them have to take it away!

Awww.

Did I kill BoreNextDoor's condescending thread?

Looks like it:

And they should keep walking. It is great when they self-select and self-identify.

#TransformThePolice

Apparently, he decided #DefundThePolice was a dopey slogan.

no...it means DEFUNDING the police. Without funding there are NO POLICE

It means rethinking how we do public safety in America and examining what led America to militarize civilian law enforcement and how and why it diverged from the mission of "to serve and protect". It also means looking at who benefitted and asking why property is prioritized over peoples rights as citizens and their lives. It means rethinking how we spend our tax dollars to achieve the positive social consequences of public safety and citizen adherence to the law.

It does not mean no police. It does not mean a descent into vigilantism, a dystopian future, crime "against whites"or increases in crime. It does not mean "the thugs are in charge (thank you Tucker "asshole" Carlson for that one).

Get it? No? Still puzzled at how "Defund the police" can lead anywhere but to a version of Mad Max in America?

Think of it this way, if the definition of insanity is performing the same actions and expecting a different result, and clearly there is still crime and unrest, why keep doing the same militarization of civilian law enforcement? It does not work.

In your own "Make America Great Again" ethos Andy Griffith never carried a gun and Barney's gun was never loaded. Isn't that the America we are trying to re-make?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., weighed in Tuesday on the proposed New York City budget cuts to the police department she said don't go far enough, saying “defunding police means defunding police.”

“Defunding police means defunding police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools,” the congresswoman said in a statement.

Budget spending on police "hardware" is minuscule compared to funding pension programs. Your argumentative skills are really on the decline since the last wave of TIAs. :)

Your 100% correct. You would think these Repubs would be down for lowering their govt taxes by shrinking the manpower numbers...it's amazing what fear does to people.

By the way, it works the same for our National military (enlisted and reserves).

Camden NJ has done exactly what we libtards have been calling for... community policing, lower crimes rates especially violent crimes and less costly. Duh, it's a no brainer.

Republicans have no say in one-party locales ruled by Democrats.

That is not what Camden did. They busted the police union and hired more, not less officers at lower pay. They increased the number of officers. They did not decrease them.

Most major cities are already spending more on pensions than on the salaries of active law enforcement officers.

They also gave less "community policing" than before. The majority of their officers commute from the suburbs.

You need to quit getting your news from CNN and Comedy Central.

Even Bloomberg is better: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-04/how-camden-new-jersey-reformed-its-police-department

What Camden did was unique and the conservatives ARE endorsing it. Democrats aren't because what they did was invalidate the then existing union contract.

What seems to continually fly over your head is the fact that virtually all of the trouble spots are democrat controlled and have been for decades. Go preach to your own heathens.

Your often repeated point about repeal of 10988 sort of fits, but I don't know how that trickles down to States, counties, and municipalities.

It doesn't, only applies to federal employees. The states, counties, and municipalities get to formulate their own poison.
