So the shooter is black.

Media doesn't identify the officers by race, that I've found so far. But the tone of the article about retribution for the Michael Brown shooting would tend to make me think the officers were white.

If it is white shooting black, the races are in the headlines.

The gunman, identified as Ismaaiyl Brinsley, appeared to be carrying out a planned assassination.

“I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be Brinsley wrote in an Instagram post that referenced both Brown and Garner posted just three hours before the officers were shot, the New York Post reported. Police confirmed that they were looking into some "very anti-police" Instagram posts.

Law enforcement sources said the NYPD has dispatched investigators to Baltimore to probe Brinsley's past and suspected involvement with the Black Guerrilla Family prison gang.
