Yes: Yes, consenting adults who have money to burn and an itch in the shorts should be able to exchange money for sexual gratification instead of being pushed perhaps to such greater crimes as rape. People should be free to do what they want with their bodies, even if it is less than honorable.

No: A crime is a crime. Given all the dangers of anonymous sex, prostitution should be curtailed, so as to prevent AIDS, syphilis and other STDs. Prostitution is illegal, immoral and dangerous.

Prostitution laws should remain unchanged. That way all of the tourists will kep coming to Nevada where it is legal.

Lol.... good one.

Legalize it.

The dangers you speak of in the "No" answer are the very reasons it must be legalized and controlled. There have been No cases of disease being spread in the legal brothels of NV!

we should fix the law so that everyone is required to be a prostitute at some point in their adult life. Just for kicks.

I voted yes for the same reasons stated above. In Nevada and countries where it is legal and regulated there is less spread of dieseases.
PV: I'm with you, should be a like a rop course.

It should be legalized, but I would discourage either engaging in prostitution or getting your sex that way; even with legalization and testing, etc., it is still about the surest way to get an STD. Whether people pay/recieve for sex or not should have no bearing on whether promiscuous sex is allowed. Sex for money is no less honorable than any other profession where you get paid.

I voted yes....

Bt I'm too tired to think of really good arguments why I did.... so just re-read the previous posts for an idea... :D

some get paid for sex.
some get paid for talking shit.
some (hope to) get paid for prostituting themselves on shows like big brother.

if it is consensual it should be legalized.

yeah, legalize prostitution and give them a chance to get health insurance and social insurance. it doesnt help anyone if they are outcasts, and getting it legalized the prostitutes registered could help controlling STD's by enforcing regular tests.

and while they are it, they should legalize cannabis too, please. :)

pros

.cost me 100 bucks just to say hello to mrs.concrete..
,the best money i ever spent
,8 years latter to this day

I voted yes for all the above reasons, but also for one more. Prostitution is and always will be around, it's the oldest profession in the world.

So instead of allowing these people to fall pray to every sick pervert out there, why not get them under controlled conditions where they will be safe.

Which in turn gives a public service to those in need of companionship, plus halts the spread of disease.

This is my favorite answer.

I live in Nevada, where, as Harold pointed out, and probably everybody knows, it's legal. I've always thought it should be legalized. I see nothing wrong with it.

HWTHB pays for having sex with me.

It may not always be in monetary terms, but trust me,he dont get it for nothin.

Ha.

I like that I always vote in the majority here.

Gay hustlers are treated like gods.

Legalization wouldn't halt the spread of disease even if they did testing daily, which they don't (but easily could). There will, for the forseeable future, be a lag time between when a person is infected and when the test shows a positive. In that case the person can and probably is infectious to others. Even if the tests were perfected to show infection immediately (which is highly unlikely given the way the human body works), and there were daily tests (which there aren't - they are tested every so many months) there would still be a lag time of some hours - and do you know how many tricks a pro turns in just a few hours?

Testing would, and does, cut down on STD infection quite a bit from the current rate - but anybody that is that promiscuous will sooner or later become infected, and they will in turn infect someone else. Prostitution will always be a nexus of STD infection.

All of which doesn't mean we should prohibit prostitution, just the opposite. We sure are not controlling now it any better than the drug trade - it is still very rampant everywhere. The best we could hope for would be to legalize it with mandatory STD testing as much and as often as is practical. Bought in bulk and automated, each test is just a couple of bucks (wholesale, each one actually costs just a few pennies - the biggest cost is taking the blood sample and administering the test).

In this state it is legal but regulated. Not allowed in my country though.

Yep, we need the government to control it allright. I can see it now: The Department of Pussy.

People will get the cooties (and worse) whether it's legal or not.
Getting the gov. involved won't accomplish squat. Decriminalize it and fuhgeddaboutit.

Sex for money, I can think of worse things . . .

It would be easier if prostitution were legalized.
People could receive mandatory check-ups and
hopefully all of the money they work for.

I wonder, would hookers unionize and fight off their pimps?

I italicized for emphasis.

You got some statistics to back up that assertion? I think this might be media-hype influenced thinking.

The way I see it, non-pros engage in sex but may be less likely to use protection or get tested on a daily basis.

A sex worker's body is a personal investment of sorts-- she (or he) is probably more likely to use protection and get tested.

I know a lot of non-pros who "trust" their partner's assertions that they have tested negative . I don't know of any pros who would trust a client if he said that.

Just my two cents worth of personal experience....
