I have read "The Story of O" and just purchased "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty."

I intend to read "Different Loving"

Can anyone recommend other related literature?

I thought a thread sharing resources and discussing them could be fun as well as interesting.

You got all three of the Beauty books, right?
Not just the one?

I had to leave the other two on the shelf for right now.

I do intend to get them. :)

Miss Cym made me post this here

hey btw ... are you familiar with the book "On the Safe Edge - A Manual for SM Play" by Trevor Jacques ?

i found it a couple of months ago in a "head shop" of all places ... lol ... anyways i bought it for b/f for xmas ...

it is excellent ... and there are even SM questionnaires, the "$35 toy bag", and a glossary, and so it goes ...

we both give the book a two thumbs up ...

My Favorite Of Anne Rampling

Has Got To Be, Exit To Eden!

There Was This Erotic Paperback Novel That I Got My Hot Little Hands On Once...Some Kinda Wild Lesbian Cult...Dirty Pussies Being Eaten...It Was Fantastic, Too Bad I Cannot Remember The Name Or Authour:(

Marquis De Sade...Justine(sp?)

I LOVE A Good Book:D While Laying Mastrubating On The Cold Kitchen Floor! LOL

The best books to learn SM techniques and skills:

SM 101 by Jay Wiseman
The Leatherman's Handbook By Larry Townsend
Sex Tips From A Dominatrix by Patricia Payne
The Topping Book & The Bottoming Book by Dossie Easton & Catherine Liszt
Screw The Roses, Send Me the Thorns by Phillip Miller & Molly Devon

I loved SM 101. It was my bible for years.

Susie Bright has some BDSM included in her collections. She also has a web site. She is a real revolutionary thinker and a great voice for the community.

I've just read Screw The Roses recently, and it was a real eye opener. I liked the focus on the mental, rather than physical aspects of BDSM, although those were adressed as well.

Thank you for reminding this one to go to the bookstore. she had forgotten that she had that idea.

You can find almost all of the aforementioned books at www.amazon.com. Another really good, BDSM-specialized online bookstore is www.blowfish.com, in the Intro To section.

If you buy them online, they come to you in plain brown boxes without lurid stickers to alert your mailperson to the fact that you're a sexual freak.

Thank you for the information, cymbidia. It will be of use when this one can get the books she decides on.

this one would suggest to cymbidia that the label "freak" does not apply to those of BDSM, since we are all normal in our own way.

this one is feeling better about her newly discovered 'other side'. :)

Wow! Thanks for all the ideas!

I do have the Marquis de Sade and Come Hither (Gloria Brame).

Previous Dom relied heavily upon G Brame.

I am about halfway through the first "Beauty".

wow! Great book....

Every time Beauty is embarrassed by her arousal or describes her wetness as shameful etc, it really strikes a chord. It took a while to adjust to the fact that certain acts were pleasing to me...especially when the acts were in conflict with what my "reasonable and sensible mind" was dictating was acceptable.

Hmm just a thought....loving the book though :)

I read "Different Loving" about a year ago, and have strongly recommended it to a few people since then. Very good, very informative, I just loved the interviews with people talking about their own experiences.
I have just finished a book that I strongly recommend. It is called Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey. The sequel to it, Kushiel's Chosen is due out in April, so you all won't have to wait to read it.
Well, that is my two cents worth, you will probably see me around here more often. *smile*

Not entirely BDSM, but good, related reading nonetheless:
Brazen by Ghislain Dunant
Little Birds and Delta of Venus, both by Anais Nin, have some BDSM themes scenes and stories.

the Marquis de Sade's Philosophy in the Bedroom should be required reading for everyone. :) Of course, I can't see getting that past the D of E. LOL

9 1/2 Weeks by Elizabeth McNeill

Ties that Bind, Baldwin & Bean eds.

Consensual Sadomasochism: How to talk about it, How to do it safely William Henkin (I think!), and Sybil Holiday

Carol Queen's book Real Live Nude Girls has a few good essays on feminism and submission, spanking scenes, and the evolution of the leather subculture, also.

RS--proving that you should never ask an academic about books, since 2000.

Didn't i send you this book months ago?
Are you ready to send it on to someone else?
Anyone want to read it?
Contact lilfrk.

The Anita Blake, Vampire Executioner (Vampire Killer?) books are good reading (lots of kinky BDSM-style sex), too, by Laurell Hamilton.

Why don't they have to read Bonds of Love?

I better go to sleep now.
