I received the below e-mail on my Literotica account exactly as you see -- with no message, and everything about the sender, including the date, and my own e-mail address, displayed as "irretrievable". (And just what is a "Pics.DOC.scr"?) It was about 40K. I didn't open the attachment, of course, because I never do (though I wonder -- does the Lit mail box have a virus check of its own?). Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else has gotten one of these. (I've deleted it already).

Yeah, it was probably some lame "attack" from Xxplorher or AJ or Yayati or some other yutz who figured, "Well, I can't win on the BB so instead I'll send him an easily detectable virus." The wimpy cyber equivalent of ringing a doorbell and running. LOL

Guru - that's the virus I had that you all were trying to help me with a few months back.

Had to scan through Dos and remove it there. Nasty Nasty thing.

I got one from some woman named teressa something..nothing written in the email and no attachments that I knew of but when I went to reply to it to find out who it was, the reply had attachments in it removed. The email addy didnt exist either, I got a mail error when sending it.

I just got three virus emails.. in my hotmail account.

All of them were from <unknown> with <none> in the subject line.

Nothing else in the body of the email.. just an attachment AELMEAAE.EXE (30k) figured it was a virus...

I opened it.. Mcaffee (at hotmail) came up with W32/Hybris.gen@MM Virus Found it's that worm that got passed around awhile ago.. attached to the "snow white and seven dwarfs" joke..

Guys/Gals:

According to Symantec, it's a new one, discovered on November 24, 2001:

This worm arrives as an email with one of several attachment names and a combination of two appended extensions.

The list of possible file names is:
HUMOR
DOCS
S3MSONG
ME_NUDE
CARD
SEARCHURL
YOU_ARE_FAT!
NEWS_DOC
IMAGES
PICS

The first extension that is appended to the file name is one of the following:
.DOC
.MP3
.ZIP

The second extension that is appended to the file name is one of the following:
.pif
.scr

The resulting file name would look something like this:
CARD.DOC.PIF
NEWS_DOC.MP3.SCR
etc.

When executed, this worm copies itself as kernel32.exe in the "\windows\system" directory. It then adds the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\Kernel32=kernel32.exe.

I got about 15 of the same thing. I only opened the first one...It tries to open Real Player... It is sent with only a first name with no subject, about 40K. I keep deleting them all.

I got a couple of these. In my case, they usually come from none-too-clever students who don't like their grade and think they invented the internet. I delete them all. No problems so far, much to the dismay of a select few morons.

I got lots of those. If I get email from people I dontknwo and the title looks funny I tend to erase them and not even open them.

I got one yesterday with no message, just 2 attatchments.

I emailed the person back telling them that I didn't open attatchments from "strangers" and if they had something to say then email me with an actual email, not an attatchment.
So far it hasn't came back undeliverable.

I'm to assume this was a virus?

The Virus known as W32 is more commonly known as the Nimda Virus a malicious worm that spreads through email and Network Connections. It provides remote attackers with full Administrative authority over the victims computer, also if the computer is continuously connected to a network, It infects all computers connected to the network. It also harvests any Windows Address Books and sends itself to all their contacts every 10 days under various attachment names. Chances are the sender's are not aware that they are sending the E-mail.

Dixon, So there is no point of me sending the pics I took over the weekend of me having sex with three other beautiful women, wearing little white tee shirts, cropped right above the nipple that say....

"All we need right now is some Dixon Cock!!!" across the back???

I understand. It's cool.

I don't know who this is.. and when I clicked on the attachments.. Mcafee (on hotmail) said NO Viruses found... but after doing some research... i see it has all the signs of a virus.. I didn't open it all the way..

so as you can see.. it's changing names.. be careful everyone.

Even virus scans can't keep up with it.

I think it's time to get rid of my hotmail account..

in the little bit of time it took me to post that last post.. i got 4 more of the same email!

I got it twice, and it was sent to my literotica account- which is what I use for my stories. I don't use that e-mail for anything else. Go figure.

Laurel,

Is there a way on the Lit mail for any unregistered or anaonymous mail to be rejected? Almost all my mail there now is virus attachments.

Hhmm.. I wonder if I can reject all mail with attachments--I will go look at the options. (This would be ideal.)
