Breaking News: Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead in Manhattan apartment.

he was always one of my absolute favorite actors. you can feel him through his work. always this clear honesty and beauty shone through. life is at times too short for those blessed with eternity. :rose:

well, he's been kinda dicey lately, but still. hell, this is probably the reason he's been in more than a few duds of late.

oh, that may just be perception on my part. i know i saw him in something terrible recently, but i just remembered i have no idea how old that movie was or even the title so i may be talking out of my ass.

Isn't he supposed to be an integral part of the next two Hunger Games movies?

Whats with these stars and the heroin? Can't they get by with some first class weed and a little blow now and then?

FFS.

He was in the Hunger Games sequel, but I haven't seen it so I don't know how good it is or he is.

Hoffman was in a lot of great or near-great films. On the other side, Happiness was one of the most unpleasant movies I've ever seen.

he was okay in that, but his character was limited. he was mainly just cold, logical and conniving with the emphasis on cold. he didn't exactly have to stretch himself too thin.

I don't think he was in the class of De Niro or Hackman or Hanks or Nicholson or (Dustin) Hoffman or Pacino or Brando or Williams but I will give him credit for one role: he absolutely nailed Truman Capote.

It was sort of known that he was not an entirely happy camper.

The high is never high enough. The accolades are never loud enough. Always searching for the next big thing.

What a sad way to go.
