Through the Portal - OOC

This thread involves a young girl (me) being captured by Slave traders that have come through a portal to Earth in search of pleasure slaves for their own world, Trabius. The writing will lean towards elements of non-consent, so if you're squeamish about rape then you probably won't like what I have in mind

For 1,000 years, the leaders of the Slavers Guild have managed to haul unwilling souls to excruciating fates, to live and often barely so, at the mercy of their Masters and Mistresses. Enslaved hapless souls have festered and toiled in Gold Mines or met the grisly fate of being 'cleansed' or just sacrificed by the Monks of the Temple of Oblivion.

The Portal that allows the influx of sentient beings is kept alive by the sacrificial rites of the Temple. It's the only way in and only the Merchants and Slavers, through a compact with the Temple, have access to it.

People born and raised in Trabius have seen so much cruelty, slavery, and torture that most barely blink an eye at it and continue about their daily lives.


This post is meant as a resource for slave-classed characters (and interested others), to illustrate the most common ways a person becomes a slave in Trabius:

(1) Born into bondage - The children of slaves are, by default, also slaves.

(2) Captured by slave caravans on the other side of the portal: The Slavers' Guild regularly sends well-equipped, well-trained units of slavers through the portal to capture & return with offworld slaves. Since Trabius has no formal relations with any other nation or political body, they have no reservations about where they acquire their slaves - hence the wide variety of species and nationalities among the slave stock.

(3) Forced into slavery as punishment - Citizens and, at times, even masters & mistresses in the city are subject to being stripped of their freedom as penalty for crimes or restitution for theft by Trabius' justice system.

(4) Voluntary enslavement - It is not unheard of for a citizen, master or mistress to give themselves over to slavery willingly. In this case the freeperson contacts the Overseer of Records to revoke their citizenship, and the Slavers' Guild to register themselves as a slave.

(5) Enslavement of Denizens: One important caveat about life in the city as an unregistered denizen* (non-citizen) is that, technically, one is subject to enslavement by an agent of the Slavers' Guild at any time while residing here. There is no intrinsic right to freedom here for non-citizens. However, many residents of Trabius remain denizens without citizenship for many years, for a variety of personal reasons. By and large, it can be time-consuming and wasteful for a Slaver to check a potential slave for papers, discount the possibility of forgeries, and accurately determine the citizenship status of someone already within Trabius' borders when ample stock is freely available from the caravans - though exceptions are made often enough that wise denizens keep a low profile.
