Well, at least we know who the ignorant are. The dead givaway is the uneducated comments boasted by the morons. Somehow, I believe RoryN has never been to college. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she at least has a GED.

PC is in place as an alternative to people like Don Imus getting his ass royally kicked by an angry mob. Call someone a nigger in the street and you're likely to get pummeled, probably by as many white people as blacks.

Zero Tolerance rules - especially in schools - is our way of minimizing the risk of kids killing each other in school. Fights tend to escalate nowadays. Before the days of zero tolerance, you had far more instances of brutal retaliations - molestations, school drive-bys, knifings, etc.

You guys pick your non zero tolerance school and send your kids there. As for me, if we can't home school our daughter (and our child in the oven), we're choosing schools with zero tolerance laws. Let's let Darwin decide on this.

When the initial statement is so blatantly moronic, it's obviously a waste of time trying to explain where the error is. Sorta like arguing with KS.

Seriously??! You only uneducated people are racist, bigoted, politically incorrect, etc., etc., etc.? That they are the main reason we have such things are PC and ZT, and whatever else? You really believe that?

Trust me, these people aren't the big problem. They generally don't have any power, money, position, or the knowledge to get their message out. It's the closeted people with education, power, and money that are the problem.

The fact that you think someone like Klanswitch is the reason we have such institutions means that you really don't understand the issue at all.

Pretty much. The people in power know how to stay under the radar. Their racism lies in things like punishing rock cocaine with larger sentences than powder cocaine, because blacks tend to use the former. Political correctness and zero tolerance doesn't even address that.

Political correctness addresses people like Don Imus. Zero Tolerance deals with your garden variety high school bully.

But when some rich kid fucks up, they have good attorneys that help them bypass both.

See that's the point of why his post is moronic. It's the people under the radar that are the problem. And I don't think Imus falls under ignorant redneck hick. Plus rich kids are also usually very well educated and end up going on to positions of power.

And just to play devils advocate, even if we got rid of all the uneducated masses, do you think we'd still get rid of PC and ZT?

You are wrong in this sense, it is the positive interference of government. Once elected a politician (on the National level) goes into a fishbowl where he and his family (who become lobbiests) become the smartest people on the face of the earth. In the face of voter apathy they pass more and more feel-good laws to protect the little people, who aren't smart enough to become politicians. This may include rednecks and sitch, *spit*, but it eventually becomes pretty much anyone who doesn't see it their way (witness Trent Lott's attacks on talk radio over the issue of Amnesty which the elites want but the majority of the rest of us don't, and that includes some very smart people who remember Ted Kennedy's last amnesty and the political promise that from now on out, we are going to protect your borders as fiercely as we protect your feelings; but that was just a polite lie, those lobbiests want cheap labor and victims to campaign over and they have the cash that fuels the campaign that protects the government that Jack built).

It is usually refered to as "The Tyranny of the Elites" (Machiavelli, von Humboldt)


Or, as Cap'n Redlegs put it. Doin' good's got no end.

So eventually when you allow government to become a force for good, it ends up in absolutes. Government is simply no good at doing good because it has the gun. Like a common thief.

People in the US (and probably Europe and Canada, possibly elsewhere) are getting dumber with each generation (via the "Idiocracy theory"), so expect to see more and more legislation to regulate dumbassery.
