Well, I'm a chestnut tree, but I would have labelled myself more of a Bonsai: Tough, a little oddly twisted, and high maintanance.

I just knew I could rely on you, Charley dear, to add a little extra twist to the thread.

Done this one before. Pine is my tree. Which is appropriate. The description fits me very well, and pines are basically the only thing that grows around where I grew up, so I did proably fall out of a whole bunch of them as a kid. :)

Lou

P.S. Mat, just so you know, and in case you are wondering why you haven't had many responses so far, I posted this here a few months back. But, I'm sure there's loads who haven't seen it, and those who have will delight in stating what they are all over again (just like me). :D

so, wheres my unexpected presents?
not sure that really fits me but hey.. sounds good to me.:D

I'm a Maple Tree (Independence of Mind) -- no ordinary person, full of imagination and originality, shy and reserved, ambitious, proud, self-confident, hungers for new experiences, sometimes nervous, has many complexities, good memory, learns easily, complicated love life, wants to impress.

My family name, though, and the main element of out coat of arms, is the Portuguese word for Walnut Tree (Passion) -- unrelenting, strange and full of contrasts, often egotistic, aggressive, noble, broad horizon, unexpected reactions, spontaneous, unlimited ambition, no flexibility, difficult and uncommon partner, not always liked but often admired, ingenious strategist, very jealous and passionate, no compromise.

Both apply, depending on my mood.

Check. (Except while reading dirty stories or acting them out.)
likes to be stress free,
Haven't experienced that yet, but it sounds lovely.
loves family life,
Not so you could tell. I'm distant from my family geographically, and I avoid a lot of close contact. Makes me melancholy.
full of hopes and dreams,
More like half-full of hopes and dreams.
attractive,
Since you mention it...Yes, I would go out with me. Especially in a black suit and stillettos.
very empathetic, loves anything beautiful, musically inclined, loves to travel to exotic places, restless, capricious, honest, can be influenced but is not easy to live with when pressured, sometimes demanding,
Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. Check.
good intuition,
The worst. I'm constantly flabbergasted at how little I actually know about the people I'm closest to. Maybe that's why I stay close; I like surprises? Intuitive about events, though, yes.
suffers in love
Yes! Of course. But only within safe bounds and only with someone I trust to do it properly.
until they find that one loyal, steadfast partner;
I divorced him. Too steadfast.
loves to make others laugh
Who doesn't? Although it's not easy for us melancholy weepers.

What's next? Which circle of hell are we bound for?

:D

Sorry Mat... just checked the list and meanings... that tree just aint me:D

I'm an Elm.

Elm Tree (Noble-mindedness) -- pleasant shape, tasteful clothes, modest demands, tends not to forgive mistakes, cheerful, likes to lead but not to obey, honest and faithful partner, likes making decisions for others, noble-minded, generous, good sense of humor, practical.

Does it fit me? Hmmm...I dunno....

Chestnut, like Charlus, but half don't fit. I would choose to be a Mango tree. P. :)

Chestnut tree.

I think about half of it sounds true unless I'm in denial for the rest. That is possible. lol

What I am

Maple Tree (Independence of Mind) -- no ordinary person, full of imagination and originality, shy and reserved, ambitious, proud, self-confident, hungers for new experiences, sometimes nervous, has many complexities, good memory, learns easily, complicated love life, wants to impress.

What I wanted to be (without reading the description)

Rowan Tree (Sensitivity) -- full of charm, cheerful, gifted without egoism, likes to draw attention, loves life, motion, unrest, and even complications, is both dependent and independent, good taste, extremely generous, artistic, passionate, emotional, good company, does not forgive.

I think I'm a lil of both.

Says I'm a

Cedar Tree (Confidence) -- of rare strength, knows how to adapt, likes unexpected presents, of good health, not in the least shy, tends to look down on others, self-confident, a great speaker, determined, often impatient, likes to impress others, has many talents, industrious, healthy optimism, waits for the one true love, able to make quick decisions.

But I'm more like a

Poplar Tree (Uncertainty) -- looks very decorative, talented, not very self-confident, extremely courageous if necessary, needs goodwill and pleasant surroundings, very choosy, often lonely, great animosity, great artistic nature, good organizer, tends to lean toward philosophy, reliable in any situation, takes partnership seriously.

I must have been born a few days late since my birthday is Feb. 12, and Feb 04 to Feb 08 is a Poplar Tree while Feb 09 to Feb 18 is a Cedar Tree.

I'm a firry. That means I'm mysterious <waves fingers in mysterious way>. Yesh, so very mysterioush. The list pretty much doesn't apply to me except for the lack of trust and the steadfast defender of friends thing.

But on the plus side at least I can shake my needles in a mysterious way.

I'm a.. Hornbeam? How interesting, lol. :)
Sounds pretty accurate to me! :)

Hornbeam Tree (Good Taste) -- of cool beauty, cares for its looks and condition, good taste, is not egoistic, makes life as comfortable as possible, leads a reasonable and disciplined life, looks for kindness and acknowledgment in an emotional partner, dreams of unusual lovers, is seldom happy with its feelings, mistrusts most people, is never sure of its decisions, very conscientious.

Not much for writing poetry, tried, not very good at it.

Definately not fashion concious, I stick to what never goes out of style, Blue Jeans, T-shirts and cowboy boots.

I never thought I had a low self esteem. Now I'm worried everyone will think less of me.:D

Definately need affection though.

The rest is pretty acurate.

I'm a Cypress - Feb. 3

Cypress Tree (Faithfulness) -- strong, muscular, adaptable, takes what life has to give but doesn't necessarily like it, strives to be content, optimistic, wants to be financially independent, wants love and affection, hates loneliness, passionate lover which cannot be satisfied, faithful, quick-tempered at times, can be unruly and careless, loves to gain knowledge, needs to be needed.

Much of this is true, I think. Fun information, thanks mat!

(Of course, I'd still love to hear more about Pop's hardwood!)

Walnut Tree (Passion) -- unrelenting, strange and full of contrasts, often egotistic, aggressive, noble, broad horizon, unexpected reactions, spontaneous, unlimited ambition, no flexibility, difficult and uncommon partner, not always liked but often admired, ingenious strategist, very jealous and passionate, no compromise.

No compromise? What the...?

Okay, okay, so compromise is rare...but I do now how!

And I wouldn't say I'm a difficult partner...

But my husband would likely disagree with that quite vehemently.

Yes. I'm a nut. A walnut! AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!

~lucky :D

Fir tree (Mysterious) -- extraordinary taste, handles stress well, loves anything beautiful, stubborn, tends to care for those close to them, hard to trust others, yet a social butterfly, likes idleness and laziness after long demanding hours at work, rather modest, talented, unselfish, many friends, very reliable.

Kind of me if you take out the social butterfly, long demanding hours at work (but keep in the laziness :D ) and many friends bits.
