'Somewhere in America, a phone's about to ring ...'

"You can fight to change
Or you can fight to stay the same"

You can't change until the thinking changes. And the thinking can't change until you change the thinkers.

'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'

The Bill of Rights, the same now, the same then, the same for our future!

You should listen to the song, or at least read the lyrics or accompanying article before commenting on this one.

Does anyone still have a phone that actually rings? Mine plays the Imperial March when it's not in silent mode and just flashes a light at me.

I think everyone has the Imperial March for at least one contact.

i used to, but i've learned that my smart phones old school ringers are far too sharp for me. it's like getting slapped in the ear.

I do, gotta keep it real with the landline because satellite can be sketchy in these here mountains.

Though apparently California has recently seen fit to put a couple new towers about the boonies and that could change for me in the next 3 years.

But, it isn't.

It's always the bottom line defense for EVERY population on the planet.

Always has been always will be.

But the FFs envisioned a permanently militia-based defense system with a small standing army. That model is long obsolete and irrelevant.

Irrelevant to my point.

That model is long obsolete and irrelevant.

Not anymore obsolete than learning basic self defense tactics.

Just because you have a PD doesn't make the ability to grab that mugger/rapist by whatever's available and neutralize him before he even realizes you're making a move an obsolete skill.

People on the ground defending their own hood is one of the most basic of freedoms and effective of defenses. To argue otherwise is either total ignorance or willful dishonesty for nefarious reasons.

'Somewhere in America
The news is about to break
Nothing can prepare you
For the toll it's about to take.
Nothing ever changes
But the dates and the places.
Somewhere in America
The news is about to break.'

Maybe in the last eight months they have.

I'm betting they are writing more basic 3-5 chord progressions, all in 4/4 of course.

The bitch of it is, they will probably sell millions more tracks than any of the amazing musicians out there who dare to reach beyond pop formulas.

Autotune pop garbage....it's everything wrong with music.

I recently learned that the flutaphone that we were forced to learn to play in grade school is now called a "recorder," but it has no electronic parts. WTF is it "recording?"

Then so is the model of personal ownership of advanced firearms. If the 2nd is obsolete and irrelevant, it needs repeal.

Meanwhile, some of our phones ring, some buzz, some play tones, and some don't work but they look good. Eventually deafness may require flashing lights to signal the rare incoming call, mostly from medical offices now. The fridge (cost under US$12 million) won't signal when it needs refilling. Neighbor dogs bark when people approach so we need no doorbell. Soon, flashing lights will indicate either incoming calls or a sheriff in the driveway.

"Somewhere in America, a light's about to flash..."

I have no opinion on Grammys.

FFS, "Let them come home on their shields?"

Technology changes, yes. Philosophy, human behavior? They are consistent.
