New Poetry Recommendations

There are so many poems going up at the moment that my recs are getting longer and longer.

Blaze by Lostriver
I have a well known soft spot for short poetry. This one pleased me a lot, though I suspect, that like the band, this is porno for pyros.

The Dead Rilke at Salomé’s Grave by PoetGuy
Another fine outing by this poet.
http://www.literotica.com/p/the-dead-rilke-at-salome-s-grave

Early Renaissance Men Having Grappa by greenmountaineer
An outstanding poem deserving of its E.

Rain by MikeIvy.
A nice erotic poem; this guy has some talent and is getting there. For the poets amongst us with some real juice, I’d like to ask you look in on this guy’s work and give him so serious advice. To mike, get in there and comment. You'll find examining other people's work helps you find and fix problems in your own.

Quiet on the tip of her tongue by Liar
A very muscular poem and dense as fruitcake.
http://www.literotica.com/p/quiet-on-the-tip-of-her-tongue

Uninvited by Chipbutty
Sometime quite different from Chip. I loved it.
http://www.literotica.com/p/uninvited-3

As Chipbutty would say: I've gorn and done it.

I have no idea what I am doing, but I am doing it.

UnderYourSpell made me scratch my privates in Ode to a Flea

Ah Seline, Seline by twelveoone had me googling for 15 minutes when I should have been studying. Keats lovers beware!!!

Vrose10 needs to watch her contusions in Enough Reason for a Horse. She excels at these short verses and this is a good one.

I LOVE the poem by bogusagain called if only. I think it is the way the poet speaks these thoughts of a forming experience is why it hit me.

And to top it all of (or perhaps bottom?--no way--not with this leading character) poet guy pushed out a nice little verse that I dug too called Yellow Peril. But I had to google again. You guys are making me work too hard to figure out what you are writing about.

Please poets, keep it coming. There are others I may have missed today. I'm not exactly practiced at this sort of thing, so just say these are the ones that affected me.

your links don't work :)

A quick recommend

virus_vector is either a new poet or someone's alter ego that I have missed. Could happen. Cause frankly, I don't pay attention.

Either way, worth checking out. Three poems today, of which Notes on the Word Virus is the odd one out. Witty, inspired and relaxed, where the other two are maybe trying a little too hard.

And then there's vrosej's The Dick Widow. Because, come on. The Dick Widow. Seriously.

The Flea by UnderYourSpell.

A hoot and worth a look. She has such a nice, classical style, she is always a pleasure to read.

If Only by Bogusagain.

All of us of a certain age can relate to this.*sigh*
http://www.literotica.com/p/if-only-16

Lip Ring Nectarines by Azraeyl
An impressive piece with great imagery. I am not sure the name does it justice though, but read it and decide for yourself.

Obligate Parasite by virus_vector

People are going to be polarised by this one I feel. I liked it enough to favourite it; it’s worthy of a read for the opening quote alone. This writer has an odd and urgent kind of feel, like he is way over caffeinated. It might be just me.

Excerpt by Liar.
A hilarious work that suggests substantial illicit drug use, go Liar.:D

Not so fast fridayam,
you forgot this guy who is fast becoming one of my faves.
starting from bottom to top
Up the Downs
well we all have them, what that wasn't the title?
to

Cancer
which is not about disease, distress and death: despite it being one of the lines
but rather an incredible display of celestial wordcraft

bogus gives us a walk
along the edge
as only he can

and this is a hearty second of Liar's
Excerpt from the autobiography of an omnipotent but oblivious god

which is a trifecta of sorts
Obviously (as from title)
Subtly as from how he gets from a perfectly odd word
dugongs
to such a perfectly ordinary word
buckets
even using a dreadful noun phrase
hoi polloi
without making it dreadful (it really adds something, strangely)
And the poem begins to work on you after you read it, that is something else, there is something else going on here.

I don't think anyone's noticed theognis' poems on this thread. Some of us might pass over them, but given a couple readings they are well-made or well-formed.

Carmel
bytheognis©

We had pancakes on Saturday morning
with boysenberry syrup
and butter made
from tigers

But that was long, long ago
and far, far away
or yesterday
in Carmel

Fine post a link.
After reading three "Master" poems

all I can say is I was double glad to see this guy:

Going Home to my Dog

"Whole Californias" (Flaubert)
by Fridayam

It is a shame, that some of the new submitters, don't seem to reading and in some cases I'm not sure they are even reading what they are writing.
And good to see you bflagsst, I'm sorry I missed it, it looks like it came from the "race" thread
and butter made
from tigers
see how read I am., Maybe if I'm up to it I'll do "White", but nobody will get it.

I hadn't read any of your poems until today. I could recommend a good many, but I particularly like this one:

Silent Era Movie Theatre
bybflagsst©

Unobjective of lust I loathed
every little thing that drew
my attention away from you
and toward cataclysm or
the cabinet of Dr. Caligari
which wasn't such suspense
as a play on first frights,
the blue screen only
a reminder to chew my juju
before trying out the taste
of your lip balmed pucker.

So, What Is It by Twelveoone
This is not my speed in poetry but very, very good. I think Espie might really enjoy this one and UYS.

Cancer by fridayam
A nice addition to his astrological series.

Going Home to my Dog by greenmountaineer
Always good for a solid read, this poet has done it again. This poem, without such masterful handling could have been a nauseating. Instead it’s a diamond.

There was a time when you could read twenty poems here and not find one that showed any talent. Those days are gone. I recommend those I love and there are so many to love now.

The Second Great fire of London by UnderYourSpell

Brilliant as a historic piece. A little work still need but a good read on the way to be a great read.
http://www.literotica.com/p/the-second-great-fire-of-london

Tabloid Author by MikeIvy

This is some good commentary on the current media insanity. This is a writer who’s really improving. This guy is one to watch.
http://www.literotica.com/p/tabloid-author

Poet by Chipbutty
I just love this one with all my heart. It’s a good en Chippy.
http://www.literotica.com/p/poet-2

Dance Trance by Angeline
She keeps producing these poems with a musical feel and they keep being fabulous.
http://www.literotica.com/p/dance-trance

The thorn and the rose by seannelson
This is a very clever poem with excellent use of sound.
http://www.literotica.com/p/the-thorn-and-the-rose

Again, my opinion, but several caught my muse this morning.

lostchicken posted a couple of illustrated poems. I like the layout of both because the words are featured more than the pict. Out of the two, Where the Hell Did My Roof Go? presents a humorous take on a sad situation. You can't help but looking at the tragedy while reading the humor.

Fire by Tristisse2 is a nice little scene not overdone by a toasty fire. Senses are evoked in this verse.

These Burbling Meats by IrmaCerrutti made my skin crawl, which is what I think the poet intended. Sad incident and conditions bitterly told.

Koba, with Scratching Verse conveys those feelings that many of us often feel when the muse rears her head. I am enjoying this poet.

Noira, in My Secret Sin, presents a rhyming couplet with some good word usage. I mention her because I know this person as an author and think she has a poet's ear that can be developed into other forms of poetry. Give this new poet a read.

Hopefully, I did not mess anything up this time. I'm going to try and review each Thursday (although I do not know if there are any rules on this thread). It is when I have time.

There were 14 poems posted yesterday, nearly all of them worthy of repeated reading which in itself is remarkable. I would say read all of them: these are just my favourites.

"Pavlovian Response" by vrosej10

A short curveball (or a doosra to V) like all the best erotic poems

http://www.literotica.com/p/pavlovian-response

"First Week Anniversary Sex" by vrosej10

Delicious images, a lovely word-picture

http://www.literotica.com/p/first-week-anniversary-sex

"An Afternoon of Sometimes" by Angeline

Heavy with ripe thoughts on such a simple structure: spine-tingling

http://www.literotica.com/p/an-afternoon-of-sometimes

"Conversations" by The Fool

Deceptively simple, wonderfully warm

http://www.literotica.com/p/conversations-3

Ode To A Fucking Parasite by Master_Vyle

I do adore vitriol and this is acid dripping hate; it’s like the joy that can be derived from watching couples fight on the street. It’s also pretty well written.
http://www.literotica.com/p/ode-to-a-fucking-parasite

Reap What You Sow by Liar.

The imagery in this one blew my head off. Go Liar. Good stuff.
http://www.literotica.com/p/reap-what-you-sow-1

Which? By fridayam
I know I keep recommending his poems, but he keeps writing good ones. This is nice and wistful.

An Afternoon of Sometimes by Angeline

This one is like a cloud of mist, pretty and mysterious, deliberately unfathomable.

http://www.literotica.com/p/an-afternoon-of-sometimes

I know it's already had a mention but I do think some prima donnas should take a look at Reap what you sow ....... this is what merits an H , I am in love with this poem it is glorious!

Blue Lester

is one I know something about:
excerpt:
Harlem tenor man
how can you be so
mean to me baby? Swing
then sigh a moan roundly
hollow and insistent
as though every star
fell from the sky alone
to spread like butter
from your golden
bell.

it's about Angline trying on new shoes
