Why on earth would that make people not like you? You're a human being who has had big, frightening, complicated events happen to you and you've come out the other side decent and thoughtful and intelligent.
I suppose so. At the very least, I realized what was making me so unhappy back then. But I was dumb, looking for drama, looking for trouble and I guess I just assumed with people's long memories, that I would not be forgiven.
I mean, that's alright, that's fine. I get it and I understand. This place is important to a lot of people and over the past few weeks, writing my book and coming back here to chill out in between grating out shavings of myself into words on these pages, I've become extremely fond of the atmosphere and relationships fostered here. So, I do understand how at the time, I shat on that.

I thought he'd given up his Ravi schtick, but maybe he was doing that behind closed doors. And I'd not seen Ravi posting for years, nor InOralOffice. His most recent persona has been troubledone, maybe check that one for recent activity. I highly doubt he died, but there's no way to really know. Why would his brother email you?

He e-mailed me from Ravi's computer, supposedly, because I had several e-mails in the inbox. He was notifying people from Ravi's e-mail list.

If it didn't have a link to his obituary, don't believe it.
Every so often, someone appears on the GB and announces the death of a spouse, sibling, or friend. If it's real, there is always someone who knew them well enough to vouch for the facts.
If there was no one who knew them that well, it pretty much settles it.

I truly am curious. I don't pay that much attention to posting style or whatever else people use to make up their minds someone is someone else. Maybe i should pay more attention, because some folks act as though it's a life and death matter. Is it?

I don't think anyone really cares as in a "cares" kinda caring.
It's just putting a spotlight on the blatant ubiquity and constant, droning, disposable bullshit of the persona. Which comes in cycles, in repeating iterations. Wasn't the first alt, won't be the last.
Some people use alts for the sporadic fun of it all.
Other people have...issues.

This is the classic definition of a 'troll' alt. The point of this kind of troll is not to target or harass a specific person. It is more to get a rise out of a community. Not something that interests me, specifically, but I appreciate it when it is done well to interesting effect. Maybe I will try that one next.
The term comes from fishing where you drag some bait through the water and see who bites.
FWIW, I am quite sure that going back years, none of my alts had the least bit of interest in interacting with Lorelei, but I do appreciate her breathless endorsement.

I doubt any of us here can claim with a straight face, that we aren't guilty of being exactly what you describe, and yet some are accused of being alts, while others never are, or have been. Why is that? Why do, for instance, I get a pass on the alt accusations, and yet, Ann does not?
Or maybe I haven't gotten a pass, I just don't remember ever being accused of having multiple alts/accounts.
