Dancing

follow your lead

held in close embrace
bodies in unison to rhythm glide
chest to bosom press
lead by sixth sense
perception
following

the brush of leather
a feather-like kiss
synchronicity
interleaved with
intricate twists
of interplay

slitted skirt reveals
sheer seamed stockings
adorning curvature of thighs
legs interlace as
stilettos embellish
a calves caress

breath quickens
their song plays
he pulls her in tighter
their bodies become one
as they dance
into oblivion

he mumbles

i twist with your every twist
i inhale you with every beat
be be be_ be bittersweet
not too bitter
and not too sweet

they dance and her arms
fear and trust_ push and grab
she would run but she longs
for a dance that would last
let us dance let me dance let us dance

Ballerina

To see a solitary danseuse pirouette
alone on stage poised en pointe
on the vibrating E string of a sobbing
violin as she plucks out tiny tiptoed
steps across the scene, spotlighted
yet not a prima ballerina draws gasps,
gazes held as the audience waits,
is to see her crying her need
as she entreats the danseur noble leap
to hold her steady, just above the pain
of her body bruising her balance,
and helping her float her agony
to a poignantly graceful curl to the floor.

sweet coastpup
dances in the waves
bobbing nimbly
between rocks and kelp
white caps spill
oystercatchers cry
a bright high point
against the gull's drone
music of the ocean
sets the time and tune
these are not quiet steps
paddle paddle sweep
each move choreographed
to meet the tides
before the sun sets
