Complete political ignorance on your part. What Trump did was agree and amplify to something that he was going to be pinned with regardless.

His options are to roll over and just let the Democrats have what they want. Why should he? Or go ahead and go for broke, and let them be on the record saying that despite the fact that they have every penny they could ever want for every social program they could ever dream of and the possibility of amnesty for DACA recipients on the table despite that being an illegal unconstitutional program from the previous president they still demand the right to continue to import Democrat voters.
