Recommend some sci-fi?

There are so many sci-fi stories on Lit that I hardly know where to start other than blindly fumbling through the hall of fame stories. I was hoping someone could help me narrow things down.
Just to get the ideas flowing, these are criteria for stories I would at least sample:
Stories that take place in space or on other worlds
Stories with other species (just not too many tentacles, ok?)
... that are more serious than over the top humorous
...power dynamics are fun but not necessary

Any kinks welcome.
Well written stories in the Star Wars/Trek universes always welcome

I liked Project: Prometheus and the Surfacing series. I don’t seem to have a lot of sci-fi favorites, so I don’t have a lot of story names for other stories I enjoyed reading. I remember a series I liked about an intergalactic escort service in which a human woman is taken from Earth and learns the ropes.

Has anybody ever seen anything on B5? Ivanova/Lockley could get interesting.

I haven't seen any here, but then, I haven't really spent that much time in the Celeb/Fan Fic section.

For something of that nature, I'd probably look at Archive of Our Own. (Though, I can't recall ever seeing Ivanova/Lockley. Ivanova/Talia Winters, sure, even Ivanova/Delenn, but not that one.)
