The Politics of Pot!

Pot-impaired driving alarms raised in wake of marijuana task force report

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/marijuana-task-force-impaired-driving-1.3894337

The federal task force on legalizing marijuana says the Liberal government must launch a public awareness blitz and boost spending on police training and tools to keep pot-impaired drivers off the roads.

Anne McLellan, a former cabinet minister who chaired the task force, said Canadians are now routinely charged and convicted of drug-impaired driving. But she said right now, there is no reliable, proven roadside test for marijuana intoxication.

"Drug-impaired driving is a problem, is a challenge, here in Canada today," she said. "That is why the science is very quickly catching up. But are we there yet? No."

McLellan said the RCMP, OPP and other police forces across Canada are currently trying out roadside testing devices to determine which one, if any, might be the "breakthrough."

With LED's becoming more available it could be "very Green" to grow your own and cut into the profit of government selected growers, thereby driving the price down and making medicine available to more suffering folks.

Small Hydro systems can be built very easily and yield a 'crop' every three weeks in a rotation of Clone, Veg and Flower.

3 WEEKS!!!

God damn.....what strain is that?

Highlights from the federal marijuana task force report
Panel makes over 80 recommendations to advise Liberal government in its legalization push

■Set the minimum age of purchase as 18, respecting the rights of provinces and territories to harmonize with sales of alcohol.

■Restrict the promotion and advertising of cannabis products, similar to restrictions now in place for tobacco.

■Establish pricing and taxation following an economic analysis.

■Tax higher potency THC products at a higher rate to discourage purchase.

■Limit public possession to 30 grams of dried, non-medical cannabis or its equivalent, with a corresponding sales limit.

■Allow personal cultivation of up to four plants per residence, with a height limit of 100 cm.

■Determine how to establish limits to prevent an increase in cannabis-impaired driving.

How about a limit of no more that six cans of Molsen at a time? No beer in larger that six oz cans? I'll bet with a little effort the Canuks would find that beer is more a danger to public order than pot.

You'll believe anything you find on the Internet.

Really, the technique was developed and tested by many growers, it takes at least nine weeks start to finish but with three batches you can harvest every three weeks with fast growing sativas.

CBD and Other Marijuana Extracts Illegal Under New DEA Code

On December 14, the Drug Enforcement Administration added a new code for marijuana extracts and made it clear that such extracts, including CBD oil, are illegal.

Although this does not represent a change in federal law, many CBD producers have operated under the assumption that cannabis-based products with less than the 0.3 THC percentage that's allowed in hemp would be legal. But that's not the case, according to this DEA announcement.

Here's the DEA's new definition of marijuana extract that was posted in the Federal Register: "an extract containing one or more cannabinoids that has been derived from any plant of the genus Cannabis, other than the separated resin (whether crude or purified) obtained from the plant."

This means that any extract of the plant falls under the Schedule I classification, along with the THC portion of the plant that gets users high. It also applies to CBD products derived from hemp. In fact, according to the posting, the classification applies to all "extracts that have been derived from any plant of the genus Cannabis."

I'll bet they don't have the science to prove this or a reason at all. The Feds are knee jerk reactionary dip shits.

What makes you say that other than you hate me because I'm not ride or die for the (D) like you?

nothing......that's right ;)

Or you could do 2x 6 week indicas.

Hell you can work it so you have a harvest every week if you've got the rooms/space and plants timed right.

Protecting that big pharma money.......the industry has to go to the elites or it's no go.

Just like in every state that's legalized except Alaska, where they just require zoning/safety regulations like it should be if your not a communist fucking dirt bag state.

Canada police raid Montreal pot stores after Trudeau’s warning

Police in Montreal raided six cannabis shops one day after they opened, following a warning by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that recreational marijuana is not yet legal in Canada.

Ten people were arrested in Friday’s raids, police said, including veteran pro-cannabis activist Marc Emery.

Trudeau, who campaigned last year on a promise to end nearly a century of pot prohibition, warned that the government is still at least one year away from legalizing pot use.

“We haven’t changed the legislation yet,” Trudeau told reporters earlier in Montreal. “It is coming, but we’re going to take the time to do it right.”

Until that happens, the current ban on the possession and sale of marijuana for recreational use remains in effect, he said.

Which is why beer, in Ontario anyways (Quebec has different rules), can only be bought at government regulated outlets or from manufacturers facility. Same with liquor. Alcohol sales are not left in the hands of private retailers.

And eventually we should have a Pot Shop. All three generating government income and ensuring that youth do not easily have access to booze and pot.

You will still be able to grow for personal consumption. Just as you can home brew beer and wine.

Liquor stores track all too frequent customers and have the right to deny sales to those who may suffer from alcoholism.

The law rules in Canada not the mob. Peace, order and good government.

In a few ways we are left of the US. But also in quite a few ways we are well right. When it comes to governance you folk are the lefty liberals.

Yea you're a fucking communist I got it.

You're insane.

Left = government control.

Right = freedom from government control..

You're considerably left of the USA when it comes to the sale of drugs.

And the "liberals" of the USA are anything but liberals....they just use the name to sound like they aren't control freak communist like you.

Totalitarianism is government control. The Nazis were right and controlled everything. The Soviets were left and controlled everything.

Lefty is free speech and rights of the individual. Right is constraints against free speech and individualism.

It's not cut and dried and depends on different countries and gov systems.

You guys are lefties. Sorry it doesn't fit into how you view the world but you're a lefty. Pot head fucking lefty hippy!

Yea we have gone left, we control way too much of our economy.

But you're much further left when it comes to drugs.

And I'm no fucking leftist, I actually respect the rights of the individual over those of the state.

Here are the 5 therapeutic health effects of Cannabidiol — backed by science

So the DEA is full of shit? Yes.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is generating a lot of buzz in the medical marijuana movement. The benefits of the non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, or the other half of THC, have been shown to treat several ailments, from neurological disorders to cancer. Evidently, CBD has medical value, but what is it exactly and how does it work?

The "miracle compound" is one of more than 80 active cannabinoid compounds in the marijuana plant. CBD produces its effect by interacting with specific receptors on cells in the brain and body: The CB1 receptor, found on neurons and glial cells in various parts of the brain; and the CB2 receptor, found mainly in the body’s immune system. It does not bind to the CB1 and CB2 nerve receptors in the brain, meaning it won’t get us high. CBD levels can vary between plants. For example, marijuana plants grown for recreational use tend to be high in THC, and vary in amounts of CBD. Industrial hemp plants are very low in THC, while medical marijuana plants are high in CBD.

Where medical pot is legal, fatal car crashes often decline

WTF??

WEDNESDAY, Dec. 21, 2016 -- Traffic deaths have fallen in many -- but not all -- states with medical marijuana laws, a new study finds.

The reason for this trend isn't clear, but the effect was most pronounced in younger drivers. That could mean that as marijuana becomes more easily accessible, more young people use it instead of alcohol, driving down drunk-driving rates, the researchers said.

"The mechanisms by which medical marijuana laws reduce traffic fatalities mostly operate in those younger adults, a group also frequently involved in alcohol-related traffic fatalities," noted study author Julian Santaella-Tenorio.

He's a doctoral student in epidemiology at Columbia University in New York City.

Pot-impaired driving alarms raised in wake of marijuana task force report

What's the difference between a drunk driver and a pothead driver?

A drunk will run a stop sign.

A pothead will stop, and wait for the sign to turn green.

(An acidhead will simply appear on the other side of the intersection without having crossed it.)

You have the two absolutely backwards.

Look, political terminology varies from one country to another, OK? In Europe "liberal" means something close to "libertarian" and has for 200 years, in America it means something different. I'm not quite sure what it means in Canada, but their Liberals (and not their New Democrats) do appear to be their nearest equivalent to our Democrats.

That's what it meant in the USA for the longest time until socialist (D)'s hijacked it to sound like something they are not.

Funny they would choose the term liberal considering their contempt for liberty, yet brilliant at the same time.

in America it means something different.

Socialist/corporatist hybrids??

I'm not quite sure what it means in Canada, but their Liberals (and not their New Democrats) do appear to be their nearest equivalent to our Democrats.

Ok...and still jacking the term liberal to sound like something they aren't then.

Typical.

P.E. Trudeau

The Just Society will be one in which the rights of minorities will be safe from the whims of intolerant majorities. The Just Society will be one in which those regions and groups which have not fully shared in the country's affluence will be given a better opportunity. The Just Society will be one where such urban problems as housing and pollution will be attacked through the application of new knowledge and new techniques. The Just Society will be one in which our Indian and Inuit populations will be encouraged to assume the full rights of citizenship through policies which will give them both greater responsibility for their own future and more meaningful equality of opportunity. The Just Society will be a united Canada, united because all of its citizens will be actively involved in the development of a country where equality of opportunity is ensured and individuals are permitted to fulfill themselves in the fashion they judge best.

All I'm going to add to the conversation is this. I have a doctorate in pharmacy (PharmD), and I'm a licensed, practicing pharmacist in my state. I greatly regret my choice of career because I see the business aspects of pharmacy and issues when it comes to the DEA.

Thd DEA is in bed with Big Pharma, and until that changes, we're going to have a dangerous controlled substance called alcohol killing millions while a potentially helpful herb called marijuana will be illegal and stigmatized.

Every possible local newspaper has covered and printed the rules, according to the law.

This time around, is very different than the 1970s. The leaf of today, has reached laboratory grade, and it has been "medicalized."

At the least, legalization will give the young peopl a smack on the hand and a shaming. Not a criminal record and jail time.
