Muslim cab drivers are well-known to refuse service to those they believe are carrying alcoholic beverages or to somebody with a service dog.
Not an example at all. The taxi driver did drive the guy, and got fired anyway.

My original post said "refuse service" and that's what happened here. And it was less than a year ago.

Your original post said "those they believe are carrying alcoholic beverages." The cabbie drove the guy to a liquor store, then to a party. He knew the guy was carrying alcoholic beverages, and he still drove him to his destination.

The driver couldn't have known for sure what was being transported. It could have been food or soft drinks. When he learned it was wine, he refused to touch the container, although assisting with baggage etc. is a normal part of the service.
