Disgusting incest stories get hots, but my stories don't. I think my stories are hot, not all of them but I have a couple that should definately have hots. I don't understand how they don't have hots. But you guys give perverted father/daughter stories hots. Y'all are nasty!
I don't know why that's even a category. That shit's illegal in the U.S.

Whatever. This is a sex story, ...

No, it is first and foremost, a STORY. Whatever makes for a good story in any genre makes a sex story good enough that people will vote an average 4.5 or higher over ten or more votes.

I checked Boonsri's Beach because it happened to be posted on my birthday and was in a category I'm not particularly squicked by. I didn't vote because It did nothing for me, and the ending offended me--not all Thai girls want(ed) a ticket to "The Big BX".

Spelling and grammar were good. Dialogue was somewhat stiff and unrealistic, but better than many. Overall an average Lit story, and not worthy of an offended down-vote, nor worthy of a pity up-vote.

Oh come on, it was just a joke. No need to get so offended. That was the second one I wrote and I'm surprised it scored as high as it did. I wrote that when I was new to the site and experimenting. I've since been actually putting in the time and effort to write longer ones. I've been trying to make them better each time but I can't get a hot, and I've seen worst stories get hots. Or maybe I just have different taste. LOL Oh well.

There is a general agreement here on Lit about "kink shaming" - don't do it. What's hot for one person is cold for another. Also, it's fantasy porn/erotica, which has nothing to do with legalities. The prohibition on snuff, bestiality and rapist stories is the site owner's prerogative. Her site, her rules. Again, nothing to do with what's legal, what's not.

And the technical answer for a Red H story, if that's vaguely what you were interested in, is a score greater than 4.5 from at least ten votes :).

True, I just think there's a double standard, and I'm trying to understand why. I just don't see how anyone could get turned on by a father fucking his daughter.
I'm not a fan of the nonconsent either, but I guess the rule of that one is that both characters have to enjoy it.

Oh, it has to be more than 10 votes? I was wondering about that. Because I've seen some stories over 4.50, but they didn't have the hot label, and I also saw a couple below 4.50 that had it.

Incest-Taboo readers want motherfucking. Group Sex readers want orgies. Loving Wives readers want cheaters to love or hate. SF&F readers want strange creatures to fuck. Erotic Horror readers want demons to fuck. Romance readers want drawn-out... romances. You want Red-H's? Write for an audience. It's called Reader Service.

I've been told that my stories are hot but... In reading them for the umpteenth time, I spotted misspellings and other typos in pretty much all of them. So that's likely why I didn't get higher ratings. Plus what I write doesn't appeals to everyone. I don't think I could write something that appeals to everyone. I'm just glad it appeal to some. I will look into your stories and tell you what I think.

Okay. I read the one that Weird Harold posted the link to. Nothing wrong with the writing but it struck me more as a romance type thing than a sex thing. Yeah there was sex in it but not enough to turn me on. Plus I found it hard to believe that he found it hard to believe that he just met a woman in Thailand and had se with her. No offense intended to Thai people but of the Thai women I know... Well... That's all I'm gonna say.

Do you have links to your other works? Or do you have other links?

How is it a double standard? It just one kink for person A, another for person B. Different kinks for different folks.

I don't understand non-con stories, but I don't go on about it, I just don t read them (except for that one time with Brother Emirus when he inadvertently fucked up my Sunday morning, but we're best buds now - but I still don't read half his stories). If you don't like the category, don't read them, but don't run down those that do. It's pretty simple, and why Lit has categories (they're not ideal, but they at least act as a coarse filter).

You won't find a Red H below 4.5. It's a well established threshold in the scoring system. If you see a higher score but no Red H, it means the story hasn't got ten votes yet.

Why do you worry about a score? Do you not enjoy writing?
Do what makes you feel good and don't worry about others.
sissy reads for enjoyment and that's how you should write.

Some write for the marketplace and then, when sales flatten, post here. Some here hope to gain notice and make it into the marketplace. The rest of us are paid only with satisfaction. We may be satisfied with eyeballs (views), or with reactions (faves and comments), or with enough votes for a Red-H, or with just the joy of having a weird fantasy accepted.

Any dissatisfied with writing and posting here should not let the door hit their bubbly butt as they exit. But gaining a Red-H is not difficult. Merely pander.

You should just write a good story and write it well.

- Make sure that your grammar is OK. At least use word to catch the most obvious errors.

- Make sure your story makes sense. Nothing turns the reader away faster than a broken suspension of disbelief, also known as a feeling "Nah, no one does that in real life!".

- Make sure you read a lot. Reading impoves your word dictionary and overal your style.

- Make sure to be thorough in your descriptions of places or events. You, as an author, has a picture in your head of how exactly that room or parking lot looked. But the reader needs you to pain that picture for them, to get immersed in the atmosphere of the place.

- Make sure that you describe people the same way you would describe a person (or yourself, if you are going for first-person) to your friend. No one says "She was 5'1" tall with 36DD breasts". People say "She was on the short side, but her tits were rather big." I will also note that it's fine leaving the description of the character vague, specifying general stuff like hair color and build, as well as most noticeable things like scars. The reader will imagine the perfect girl/man anyway, from the description of their character and actions. I'll also note that if you are giving a description - make it early on when introducing a character. I once read a story where after 2 hours of reading I was surprised that the character was bald, while I've already imagined him otherwise.

- Read people's feedback.

- Also, some of the categories are just not popular enough or too controversial for H. For example incest gathers a lot of both likes and dislikes, from people who hate the genre. But that prevents a lot of stories from going H.

good luck!:cattail:

Lots of people enjoy crime fiction, even though murder's illegal. There's very little that's illegal to write about in the US.

Skimming "In The Land of Fire and Sex", I can see a few reasons why your stories aren't cracking that 4.5...

Lack of tension. You tell the readers that Icelandic girls are easy. Simon's plan is to go to Iceland and get laid before New Year, he's absolutely certain that he'll succeed, and that's exactly how it turns out. No surprises. For me, this was the biggest weakness.

Length. Long stories tend to get better ratings, probably because the people who don't like 'em stop reading before they get to the voting.

Boner killers. Some readers do like short pieces where the sex comes ahead of other story elements ("stroke"). But those readers generally don't want to think about sexually transmitted infections. You make a big deal about how Iceland has "highest rates of STDs in the world" (not true, BTW - they may have highest rates in Europe, but still lower than the USA) and then you write about Simon deciding to take his luck with going bareback and possible chlamydia. This is going to be a major turn-off for a lot of those readers. (Not the "bareback" part, the "being reminded about STIs" bit.)

Technical stuff. I noticed some typos and random changes of tense. Certainly not the worst I've seen, but it doesn't help.

Goofs. Nobody expects PhD-standard research for erotica, but I saw several mistakes, some of which could've been avoided just by reading the Wikipedia page on Iceland:

- As one of your commenters already pointed out, 23 Celsius is not "arctic blast" and it's definitely not December weather for Iceland.
- Iceland is not "in the middle of the cold Arctic Ocean". It's at the border of the Arctic and the North Atlantic, and Reykjavik .
- The plural of "króna" is "krónur", not "kronurs".
- Why is an Icelandic woman in Reykjavik arguing with an Icelandic street vendor in English?

This sort of thing really pulls me out of the story.

If you want to hear from others, I'd suggest posting on the Story Feedback forums.

Just from reading the titles and description of your posted stories, it appears you are writing for a small category within a category. Not everyone likes to read about women from, India, Thailand, Iceland, etc. it not that they are bigots, they just like to read about the generic woman they are most likely to see everyday.

If they want exotic woman in their reading, they go to Interracial. Now to most that connotates black guys fucking white women, but it can also be white guys screwing Chinese women or Thai women, etc. or visa versa.

So you put an exotic beauty from somewhere most of your readers haven't been to or might not know such a woman, then you might have a problem.

Hope this helps. Another piece of advice... Quit harping on the incest stuff. It's not illegal to write about it. It's not even illegal to do it... right up until you get caught, but then at the most you will get a slap on the wrist and now law enforcement agency will search for people who participate in incest unless they get a complaint. And if the two participants are over 18, will most likely shrug their shoulders and walk away unless the DA is up for re-election.
