Operation Love Yourself

Dear Tink,

This is a wonderful thread, thank you for thinking of it. It seems I came by just at the right time. Here are my great things of today:

1) I got to experience the life of coal miners in a village close to where I live. I knew it was there, but I didn't know one could visit the mines and it was very touching.
2) I got to be cheeky with a long time friend with whom I have reconnected recently after a long break in communication.
3) I spent a wonderful dinner with my work colleagues, we laughed a lot and got to know each other in a different environment. :)

There's always at least a few small things.

There are actually far too many to count, but for now I'll say:

1. Someone I met today told me I was beautiful.
2. I'm able to come home to a lovely, peaceful home.
3. The shower I gave last weekend is done and was a huge success.

Waking up feeling good and with a smile on my face
Went to a great munch yesterday.
Listening to MF adjust photo sizes to go up on the site. 'Mmm nice!' ;)

Day 9: Distraction

Sometimes you have a day that just isn't ok.
Find a distraction from something that is upsetting to you.
What does that look like?

Puppies?
Kitten videos?
A chat with a friend?

The sun is shining.
My mom's test came back with good results.
I have great friends.

You better love yourself, because waiting for others to love you and treat you right, will leave heart broken and disappointed everytime

This is very powerful...and something that I've only learned in the past few years.

For me it's the movies. To sit in a dark theater and lose myself in whatever is on the big screen for two hours is the greatest distraction for me.

Almost 20 years ago when my husband told be he was moving out, I went to the movies...I watched Pearl Harbor and was able to forget for a bit. It didn't change the outcome of anything, but it sure was nice to not think about it for a while...

We learn and improve, sometimes getting hurt is the key to progress.

I admit I'm looking forward to this. I"m not going to see it tonight because my big kiddo who wants to see is has strep and can't go, so it'll be sometime this weekend.

I keep trying... because yeah, heart broken and disappointed sucks.

Yes it does, the greatest revenge is having a happy life. Of course it's not only for revenge, we need to value ourselves. How we treat ourselves is a template for others to follow.

Tink, Spoiler Alert: Deadpool does something inappropriate, yet hilarious :D

Day 10: Speak Kindly to you

Speak kindly to yourself today.
Sit down with your favorite beverage at some point (It's Friday, if you wait til happy hour I'm not judging you!) and have a little chat with yourself.
Tell yourself you are a pretty amazing person.
Compliment yourself.
Remind yourself you have something to look forward to. (If you don't.. plan something!)
Give yourself the pep talk you'd give to your best friend after a tough week.

We really are the same person! It's the movies for me too. No matter how bad I feel. I can lose myself in a movie and come out feeling more in control of the situation and able to deal with it with a calmer head.
Also talking with a good friend.

We should be kinder to ourselves daily. But we rarely think of building ourselves up instead of those who surround us.
Good one, Tink.

Day 11: Dress Nicely

For tomorrow.

Tomorrow I am going to be busy all day (Lunch with the amazing Indie!) but to do that I need to be out of my house early and I don't know if I'll have time later or before I leave to make tomorrow's post.

Wear something that makes you feel amazing.
Whether it's your favorite pair of jeans or a cute dress that always gets you compliments, a cozy hoodie or a sharp suit... we always feel better when we feel like we look nice.
Take the time to dress for you.
Weekends can get lost in chores and "work" that we grunge up for, if that's the case then save it for a day that it works better, but you deserve to look nice for you.

Leaving this for today's "challenge" (because let's be honest, this one is definitely a challenge to a lot of us.)

I bought a cute new summer dress and sandals which I plan on wearing tomorrow to the zoo if it doesn't end up raining. Grrr...

For myself, today, I have two...

First, I cleared the decks late last night so I could sleep in. Sleep until I wake, roll over and go back to sleep... How long has it been since I have slept so much? It feels wonderful...

Then later this afternoon, I will take my rescue dogs out for a long trail walk. Fresh air, sunshine, cool breeze, special playlist and dogs that are appreciative of being rescued and cared for...

Yeah, it's going to be a good day for me. For ME. For a change..
