Operation Love Yourself

I don't know that I have an anthem, but I have to go back to one of the great songs: Whether it's me, or someone I care about feeling down, this songs says that 'this too shall pass' and people do care...

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I'll dry them all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Task 2: Hobbies/Classes/Interests

Think about things that you like to do, that you get enjoyment out of and that fill your time with good.
Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

For me, for task 2.
1.I'm going to continue with the book club Indie and I are doing, I do love to read.
2. I'm going to go to add an exercise class to my schedule (Though I really don't want to, I know it will be good for me)
3. I'm going to actively play with my dog for an 15 minutes each evening.

Does your art help you, Tink, or does it add to your stress?

The act of making things is helpful.. if I can do it.
When I'm sad or overwhelmed I lose all creativity and unfortunately it's not something I can force.

I'm reminded of this
https://pics.me.me/hurt-an-artist-and-youll-see-masterpieces-of-what-youve-10655775.png
but interestingly the background to it is blank....
like everything I try to make.
I'm not a good tortured artist. My spark is in my happy.

I will climb 2 mountains this summer instead of one.

I wanna canoe part of the yellowstone river.

I usually go by myself into the backcounty. Bad idea i know. But it is hard to find good companions. I should at least look again once i head back west.

Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

1. Get involved and stay in the book club.
2. Get back on the bike, daily.
3. Take a "me" day at least once a month, no SO and no kids.

1. Write...make the time and just do it. I have 2 half done books of a trilogy and a totally different one that's been living in my head for almost two years now.

2. Have fresh flowers on my table for the whole summer (longer if I can). Seeing them everyday makes me smile.

3. Pedicures...now that it's sandal weather I need to get in and treat myself every other week.

I'm so glad to see you start this thread, tink! Such a great idea - there has been so much talk of regret and sadness and negativity lately - we need this!

I love Pink's and Pharrell's songs (and I REALLY love that Walk Off the Earth version!), plus I like Chistina Aguilera's Beautiful too.

I'll have to answer the second day challenge later - got to fly right now!

Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

1. I love writing and need to carve out more time in the day to do it.
2. I love my guitar and need to spend more time playing it.
3. I like the idea of carving out one day a week for "doing what the hell you want".

Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

1. Keep up with my running
2. Keep the garden looking good
3. Continue to be happy with how far I've come

I don't have an anthem, Tink. Most of what I listen to when I need to be encouraged is anything that makes me dance. Right now I'm listening to 38 Special, but I like all kinds of music and may move over to country after this, who knows?

I've had a rough two months and have just posted once again in my SRP. I miss writing, and I will refresh my mind with a story I'm writing and try to finish it up this weekend.

I love coloring and, since my daughter loves to do it with me, I'm putting together some videos to teach her a few tricks to do with colored pencils and paints.

Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

1. Writing, both smut and non-smut. Both have been on hold recently, but hoping to kick-start this again asap.
2. Seeing friends. I need to get some dates planned and spend more time with my girls, they help remind me that I'm more than just a mum and wife.
3. Paperwork, or more specifically - organising my paperwork better. I got the files, I got the papers, but they ain't organised properly. I know, I'm sad. But it would actually give me a real sense of satisfaction to get this job done. :D

Task 3

Get some fresh air. At least 15 minutes.
Bonus points if it's in the sunshine or you get some exercise too.
If it's not nice where you are, open a window and get some fresh air circulating in your space.

So much this. I can't let someone else's jealousy, cuntery, and negative self worth affect my own. If they have a problem with me, that's their problem. Learning to focus on myself rather than what others think of me or how they react to me is crucial right now. If I can at least be kind to myself, the rest may not seem so bad.

This is one of the hardest things to do!

I have only recently realized this...I am who I am - like me or not. I am almost 50 years old and it's taken me this long to realize that I am awesome and if you have a problem...it's yours.

*sigh* but, there are those moments that I need to take a minute to have some good self-talk, because while awesome, I'm also human and words can hurt.

There are so many things in this thread that I want to respond to, and I probably will eventually.
I'm not myself right now and I'm trying VERY hard to make my way back to me.
Just know I am reading everything everyone is posting and want to hug each of you.
So please don't take it personally if I don't respond.

Today I'm taking my dog for another walk and getting an ice cream.
I found a $25 amazon gift card in my old purse that I'd forgotten about. So I'm going to maybe buy myself something too.

Pick 1-3 and find a way to participate in them.

1) Learning to play guitar
2) Get back on the tread mill
3) Get back in my sailboat (OK, that's just I'm gonna anyway).

My current office has an interior view with little sun and no open windows.
However, I'm thinking a beer on the patio at the pub tonight and a day at the lake tomorrow will count.
