I'll be honest with you. Reputation is everything, it's true in real life and here as well. If you make a habit of bashing everything and everyone for beliefs other than yours, then this is the feedback you will receive. I think he has great talent, and I understand what he is saying. But keep in mind 99% of the photos here are taken by the model with something as simple as a cell phone, not a photographer with a complete studio. Most people here are not looking to improve on the technique, but simply seeking an ego boost, or forsome to just find them sexy and beautiful because they do not feel that way in the real world.

OK, I think we are at the point where this thread could be overwhelmed by this discussion.

I respectfully request that we move on and return to posting and appreciating 'Vargas Girl' poses.

If folks wish to continue to debate the merits or appropriateness of Mr. Ekserb's advice, perhaps a thread in the Darkroom is warranted.

What I'm trying to do in this thread is copy the pose of an artwork.
It's difficult. It's fun but it doesn't usually turn out exactly how I envisioned.
I'm just a regular woman who enjoys trying to make pretty pics.

This isn't Vargas it's Olivia De Berardinis but I just loved the painting and since it's pinup I attempted to copy it.

Thanks! I love pin-up girl style, and have a few older series dedicated to it (or at least a shot or two from each shoot that is pin-up worthy

As others have noted, it's much easier to achieve this style with a photographer (hubby takes some of my photos). Props to all the selfie-styled ladies!

I don't know that I'll keep these here, and I'm sure Ill never post others but I had pics done a few years ago that fit.

They were based on this type of image. Not quite Vargas, but still fun. *poof*

Right. And I see it as constructive advice for amateurs, the same as a housewife might get when going to a boudoir studio for the first time. Do this. Don't do that. Watch your angles, look this way, not over there.

There are a few decent pictures here. And I'll leave it at that.

Thanks ladies and gentlemen. Hubby and I think every one of you real members are Vargas Girls. I stopped competing because I know I'm too old but many of you are still so young and beautiful.
Too many expect porn stars and movie model photos. We are moms, grandmom's, and girlfriends. Simple digital cameras and cell phones are all we use and Photoshop is not necessary for real beauty.
