I don't mind, it's really not an insult.
I'm more of an egalitarian, but as that means 'equal' and not 'one group gets extra privileges and is superior' that tends to piss most people off equally.
I have a talent for that but I'm okay with it.
I'm pretty sure there are enough reasons to dislike Trump without hating, but it really is hard. I find myself distressed and willing to stipulate that given a time machine and a gun... I would be conflicted.
I happen to think he's just not a good guy, and thinking that he's not a good guy and that him being in power is... bad... seems to indicate a working knowledge of politics and precedent, not blind hatred.
I didn't think he'd be elected. Boy is my face red.

Well, here's the thing, just like me, nobody declared themselves an SJW, they only did after the fact like I do when I point out it's not an insult and it's a stupid attempt at it.
Here's my take on the Trump thing:
I'm going to be fine. I am in fact white, privileged, living in a blue state with a looooong history of excellent schools and safe living. I grew up here. I wasn't raised racist, I was raised close enough to NYC to have a very cosmopolitan attitude of "We all get along, we all thrive together" at home and at school and in the 1980s when my gay best friend competed in the Miss ________ Pageant, he won and he wore the tiara and got the scholarship money. So honestly I'm in a great place. I'm going to be fine. I'm not at risk at all
Trump will make me facepalm daily, but that's really mostly what's going to affect me, that I am acutely embarrassed.
I can say "I survived George W. Bush for 8 years" and that's also true - the problem is that LOTS... of other people... did not.
So that's why my guts clench and why I worry, because they're at risk and they're being victimized.
The feeling is akin to feeling like maybe America was healing up some, getting healthy, blood flowing back to the heart and now the blood supply has been hijacked by a tumor.
Trump can't actually kill America, but he can make a shitload of people sick, dead and destroy any attempt at integrity or trust that we NEED to actually... get along with the rest of the world or with each other.
My hope is that we fight back, we develop an immune response, we reject, we obstruct, we do not accept this - not violently - because I think "Fight fire with fire" is a moronic statement.
You fight fire with water. House is now on fire. Double down on compassion, on supporting people that are at risk, and they ARE at risk. They're going to die, they're going to be marginalized, they're going to be afraid.
By the way, my daughter is married to a man of Indonesian descent, she's living there, she's converted to Islam, not practicing, but something she had to do to be eligible to have a traditional marriage for his family, which they wanted and she said... sure. In about a year when his Fulbright scholarship commitment is up, they are eligible to come home to live. Which they can do because he went to school here, he has an American wife and American parents-in-law that sponsor him. So my daughter burst into tears upon hearing of the election results. Because she's in Indonesia every day trying to convince people that Americans are not all assholes, and it's fucking hard because THIS.

1.Not only because you were kind to me lately and when I started, but also because I never saw you engage or encourage the pattern of harassment that those progressive turds engage in.
I have no respect for them; I respect you
2.Unfortunately, I'm still biased because I caught a period of the GB where I've seen Ann behave well and she was never mean to me. Moreover, given my own experiences and what I've seen around me too, I harbour quite a bit of contempt for the progressives.
That's why I'll continue to be judgmental of and interfere in the progressives soup like an annoying fly (I love it when they get frustrated and pissed off despite pretending to have the upper hand),
- but I decided to no longer interfere between you and Ann like I did before.
Nevertheless, I've taken what you said on board and I'll be vigilant about such issues. It's possible that I will change my mind; hell, I already changed my views on many things around here
