I am continually amazed at the conditions in which they live now, in a lot of cases.

The "Indian Reservation" and all that it brought with it was the prototypical welfare system. <shrug>

None.

Um, that's a comment I'd like to explore a bit, but I'm off to sleep.

Doesn't take as much exploration as it does some critical thought.

Good night.

Flag burner, 52, dies

Protester planned to serve as attorney at trial in two months

By HENRY BREAN
REVIEW-JOURNAL

A man who burned a U.S. flag at a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony last year has died two months before his trial on a misdemeanor charge related to the protest.

Stephen Drew Hampton planned to serve as his own attorney and call Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman as a witness during his Aug. 4 trial in Las Vegas Municipal Court.

Hampton, 52, died Thursday of natural causes at his Las Vegas apartment.

The self-described "revolutionary Trotskyist" was arrested for disturbing a meeting, a misdemeanor, after he burned a small U.S. flag and chanted anti-American slogans at the dedication of a new Las Vegas Fire Station on Sept. 11, 2004. Hampton's protest interrupted a speech by Goodman.

After a court hearing last month, Hampton told reporters he was unemployed and in the process of filing for disability benefits, but he said his degree from the Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles more than qualified him to represent himself in court.

According to State Bar records, Hampton had been licensed as an attorney in Nevada since October 1997.

The Clark County coroner's office was still searching for Hampton's next of kin Tuesday.

Hampton advocated for socialist revolution in the United States and across the globe. On July 4, 2003, he burned a U.S. flag on Las Vegas Boulevard near New York-New York. He tried to burn another flag there on Sept. 11, 2003, but was stopped by a crowd of people.

He was not arrested or charged in connection with either incident.

Well, I checked. That story is indeed in the paper.

I am sorry for your loss, and truly sorry that you have had to prove yourself here. I'm sure that you can understand people's skepticism though.

How many people actually get written up in a paper... I figure thats a good send off.

I imagine it helps to have a court case pending.

Actually, yes, it WAS accurate. I read the original story this morning, it was exactly as posted, minus the picture.

What you have linked seems to be an updated story.

Who the hell are you anyway?

Milky, read both carefully and show me where they do not differ.

Try this route

There is not a mention of death there.

Yes I am aware of the gravity of what I say, just to discredit me if thats what you need show me where it mentions his death of natural causes.

Who am I, well as a newbie I understand peoples caution to give out personal info. So with the nuts that are around what does it matter and what difference to any one would it make. Obviously I get under some skin for my opinions and beliefs. That is life.

Useful and realistic suggestions considered.

PeeWeeBoy...
