Your inclusion of this song reminded me of the Kinks show I enjoyed back in '83, '84 (?) at the Orpheum in Minneapolis. They were in the shank of their resurgence with "Come Dancing" etc. The show was great but they only treated us to a couple of the classics. The quoted song above being one of them as well as "Ape Man", a personal fave.

The funniest part, and the reason the show sticks in my mind so vividly, was Ray announcing at the outset that he wasn't sure they would play...and then the opening chords of "Lola" (played by Dave?) would ring out. The crowd would go MENTAL. He did this several times throughout the show.

To make long story a little shorter...they never played "Lola"! We laughed all the way back to Wisconsin at being the butt of their joke. Singing "Lola" all the way, of course.
