Turning blind men into lepers OR another Obama miracle.

It begins when Israel agrees to give back some of the land taken in the Six-day War and rethink their borders, and the Palestinians recognize Israel as a state.

Hammas will lose coherence when there is a Palestinian state.

And for the record - Mexico can take El Paso back!

God, Mohammed and Jesus were out playing golf

Mohammed tees off

he reckons

"oh yep, landed on the green boys. 150 yards, suck it up sunshine."

Jesus has a go

his ball lands on the green also

"Amen", he reckons.

It's Gods turn.

he hits the ball,

and it soars through the air...

a crow catches it in its beak

lighning strikes and the crow drops dead, rolling the the ball perfectly onto the green and into the hole

Jesus isn't impressed

He turns to his father and says,

"Dad, can you stop fucking around and play some golf?"

“I wish that the president had not made the speech on Thursday, particularly not made it — I gather — without much consultation” with Israel, said Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), an Independent who caucuses with Democrats. “So I think it was a tactical mistake.” Lieberman also questioned the manner of the speech’s delivery, coming at a time of tremendous political uncertainty in the Middle East, and the lack of prior consultation with Netanyahu. He said it failed to reflect Israel’s status as one of the U.S.’s closest allies. “To my way of thinking, we’re dealing with a very close ally in Israel, and the world around Israel has changed a lot since the first of the year,” Lieberman said. “As I understand this, the Israelis only heard about this Wednesday night. This would have been much better, much more constructive if there had been some discussion and negotiation between the U.S. and Israel before the president was in a position to go out publicly, "It puts Israel in an awkward position."

“The place where negotiating will happen must be the negotiating table — and nowhere else. Those negotiations will not happen — and their terms will not be set — through speeches, or in the streets, or in the media,” Reid told the audience, bringing it to a standing ovation. “No one should set premature parameters about borders.”

“Israel’s borders must be defensible and must reflect reality on the ground,” House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said in speech that was seen as a slap at Obama’s remarks. “Peace can only be achieved by a return to the negotiating table without preconditions.”

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) said there’s “total agreement” in Congress that “the ’67 lines will not work.”

Senate Democrats are expected to support a resolution intended as a rebuff to President Obama’s call for basing Middle East peace talks on the 1967 Israeli-Palestinian borders. A resolution that would show broad consensus within Congress that the 1967 Israeli-Palestinian borders are not only “indefensible,” as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, but also contrary to U.S. national security interests, states “it is contrary to the U.S. policy and national security to have the borders of Israel return to the boundaries of 1949 or 1967.”

You are wrong. My words are as true as words get. You just do not want to hear them.

Keep smashing the guy. It works for you. It also fuels the fire(s) at Lit were there is no political discussion, only yelling and screaming.

You've been at the Union Hall reading the propaganda again, haven't you.

How shocking that Sen Liberman took that stance. I mean what possible influences in his life could there be for a pro-Israel position? And Rep Hoyer? One of the biggest recipients of Pro-Isreal PAC money. This cycle alone $93,000, over a million in the last several election cycles(source: OpenCongress) and more to come.

I agree that there can be no pre-conditions. Everything must be on the table. Isn't that exactly what the President is saying? The borders have to be on the table too, just as the recognition of the right for Israel to exist.

Maybe the "Arab Spring" does signify that it is time for the hard-line stance to end. The arab people sure do seem to be saying that the policies and oppression of their governments do not represent them.

Whether by magical means or not, we are all well aware that "shit" did indeed happen. The first event was celebration on the Arab street, then Bibi (Netanyahu) basically got in the presidents face and said, "not happening on my watch." Bibi then went before congress and delivered a rousing speech that essentially took our young and naive president to the woodshed while at the same time encapsulating the recent history of mid-east politics and policies. Subsequent to that speech the Palestinians (Hamas) accused Bibi of delivering a "declaration of war." (Which in itself is absurd in that the Hamas Charter calls for the eradication of the Jews, not just from Israel, but from the face of the earth. That portion of the Charter makes any declaration of war more of less redundant. It would be roughly akin to Hitler expressing outrage that the US declared war on Germany after Germany had already declared war on the US.)

"The recent history of mid-east politics and policies" is that Israel owes its existence to the United States, not the other way around. Netanyahoo [sic] might want to think about that the next time he decides to come to this country and dress down its own elected leader to his face--something you and your ilk would have been infuriated by had it happened to a Republican president.

Obama didn't say anything last week that hasn't been American policy for at least the last 4 administrations. Netanyahu's temper tantrum regarding Obama's address, and his constant lies about what was said, prove he's dealing in bad faith. If Israel has to live with Obama for another 5 1/2 years, they should know who chose to make the relationship poisonous.

How many Presidents have told them to go back to the 1967 borders?

Really want to stick by this?

[QUO TE=vetteman;37634688]He needs to be muzzled. He's done nothing but shoot off his big mouth since day one, seems like 24/7 TV face time since he was sworn in. It was only a matter of time given his multitude of pronouncements that they would begin to expose his incompetence and get him and us in trouble. The man looks like a fool.[/QUOTE]

Can we just put him in a rubber room somewhere until his time is up, then just forget about him? I feel sorry for the person who get the job next he has things so messed up it will take year to get this country running right again.

That's not what Obama said. When you and your pals start quoting him correctly, then and only then is an honest conversation on this issue possible.

“The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.” - President Barack Obama 2011

That is the exact quote. I wonder what 'swaps' he had in mind.

His sole success story, the death of bin Laden, wasn't even an act of international diplomacy but was a continuation of the Bush policy regarding the disposition of bin Laden. In other words his one perceived success came about from the fact that he did nothing, just got out of the way

This is some seriously disingenuous bullshit right here. Bush also said bin Laden wasn't a priority and he hardly thought about him.

Bush says he wasn’t overjoyed by bin Laden news

Remember?
