20 Questions: A Confessional Poetry Challenge

Question 1: "Whats the closest thing to you that's red?"

In terms of both 'proximity' and 'fondness', my five red babies curled around; safe and sound.

Question #2: "Given the chance to go back again, would you still kiss the first person you kissed?"

Tender trembling lips, being watched intently, lightning through veins

QUESTION #3: "Have you ever prayed?"

Oneness, worshipping, obeisance occasionally answered. Is this perhaps more than I deserve?
'You're still alive' she said. 'Do I deserve to be? And is that the question? And if so, who answers? Who answers?'

Question #4: When was the first* time you saw your mother** cry?

Passing of an old lady whom I never knew; memories now to be lost in the mists of time

Question #5: Where was your face before you washed it this morning?

Huddled close, uncomfortable yet all safe, no cars to wake the slumbering ones.

Question #6 Explain the circumstances surrounding the last time you genuinely laughed at yourself.

Too many to mention, even simple mistakes can bring unexpected joys; look for them in all things.

Question #7: "Do you believe in ghosts?"

Children passed over often visit me still; rapturous feelings of closeness, silently waiting (but not eager) to be together again.

Question #8: What makes you look twice at another person?

That smile, a toss of the hair, an accent stoppered with soft sibillants.

Nervously hiding it all, none should see.

Pot luck, scratch-cards, lucky dips. 'It's all there for the taking boys and girls IF you try your luck just one...more...time'.

Question #13: "Is a dozen usually enough?"

Most things in life are a case of 'six-and-two-three's', yet a dozen is rarely the correct number.

Pornnamepornnamepornname, surely?

Yet another of life's mysteries yet to be unravelled; does even G*d know?

Love is the greatest thing: the oldest -yet the latest- thing.

Question #18 "Tell me, why did you lie?"

I think I did it because it was raining on me and I was 17 at the time.

Question #19: If you could have dinner with any 1-3 people (living or not) who would you invite?

Stanislav Lem; a sci-fi legend, yet rarely mentioned.
James Barclay: similarly overlooked, though I know not why.
Either Muddy Waters or Jimi Hendrix, so that I could learn guitar from the masters.

Question #20:What is your worst fear? Phobia? Nighmare? What would be in your Room 101?

Dying with no chance to move on, accompanying those I love, or perhaps living and leaving them behind.
My Room 101 would be nothing so large (yet so small) as hate.

My wife's name was Roswitha (and still is to her family and others in Austria), but she hda it legally changed to Tony (yse, like a guy - she was concerned about phone listings ...)

The story from my wife is that the nurse picked Roswitha - her mother wanted a boy and didn't have a name picked out. WHen my wife's younger sister Sonja was born their mother then was glad to have a girl since she could get hand-me-down clothing.

I was supposed to be William but was a third girl and no doubt a great disappointment my mother was a great knitter and I still have photos of me wearing cardigans with big yellow ducks etc round them ...... I hated them lol

My wife and I had decided on both a boy's namd and a girl's name.

My father named me. I hated him. The name never suited me and in Australia, Michelle, was the second most common name for girls the year I was born. In high school I was in one class with five Michelles and a Rochelle. I am covered in pansy and violet tattoos (just got a couple of roses).

My husband and I had heaps of trouble with girl's names but agreed instantly about a boy's names. If he had been a girl, he'd have been called Violette.

My parents chose Richard for me, which I generally go by. Rich in one setting, Richard everywhere else. Never was Rick. My MS advisor used Dick, which I don't care for. Never could get him to change. Other than that, he was fine.
