Just a thought on the grading of stories…Why allow zeros? No story deserves a zero based solely on its literary content…I would bet that 99% of zeros are awarded upon the bias of the reader, not on the merits of the story…So why should a writer be punished because of the reader’s moral objections or bias against the story’s content? So, I say do away with zero awards…if this is not feasible, why not require the reader to submit a comment to enable them to vote a zero…this way the writer would receive some feedback on how to improve his or her skills and in doing so, improve literotica itself…Any thoughts?

There are no zero votes. The lowest is a 1. If you read the story and don't click on the stars no vote is registered. Therefore, no zero vote.

First off, as was stated, the lowest rating is a 1. Second, requiring someone to comment before giving a low score just invites the haters to post nasty comments on stories. With the "1" vote, the hater can vote down the story without commenting.

There will always be people who get thrills out of low-voting or "1-bombing" (there you go, Stella) a story. Sometimes the general, non-contest sweeps take them away, sometimes they don't. Only way to truly prevent someone "1-bombing" (that's two for you, Miss Omega) a story is to turn voting off. But then, that prevents people from giving it a "5-bomb" as well....or anything in between. :)

There has been a lot of talk of getting rid of the "onebombs" (another for Ms. Omega) but honestly even though they are generally abused they are necessary. Also if the "1" gets cancelled then the trolls will move to "2's" and then people will want them removed.

If you are going to eliminate the low votes then why bother having a scoring system at all?

Lit would turn into one of those contests they have for little kids in school where "everyone's a winner"

You just have to roll with it like we all do.

You must be posting in Loving Wives, BarondeSade. :)
