This thread takes place in the same story universe as Over the Horizon, where two British sailing ships in the 18th Century find themselves marooned in a strange land that looks like Africa...but isn't.
First off, my apologies to historical purists...I'm taking considerable liberties with the historical Japanese Zero aircraft, essentially turning it into a fighter-bomber. The reason for this use of artistic license is to create three openings for Japanese airmen rather than just one. I want some redundancy here; I don't want a whole new thread to be reliant on a single player remaining engaged.
The openings are for a pilot, a co-pilot/navigator, and a gunner. All are Japanese, in the Imperial Japanese air corps, ready to take on the world. They were on a mission to bomb the American base at Midway when a storm unlike any they had seen before swept them up. Their navigation equipment was useless. For fourteen hours, they were cut off from the world...not knowing where they were.
Then all at once, the storm broke. The plane emerged from the wall of clouds, into the orange light of the setting sun. It was then the pilot noticed three things, any one of which would have been sufficient to instill dread in even a stoic Japanese son of heaven.
First, there was a tropical landscape a few miles ahead, with snow-capped peaks, not like any the Navigator had on his charts. Ahead were two....sailing ships...flying what looked to be the Union Jack.
Second, there were two moons in the sky.
Third, the gage in the cockpit instrument panel read the Zero was down to about twenty pounds of fuel. Whatever this land was, the crew would be visiting it very soon, and likely be remaining for some time.
Go ahead and post your characters here...whether you like historical stories, or you are Japanese and want to role-play a soldier in your country's Imperial past and try to conquer a world...or at least its women...now is your chance.
