2/11/12Why Zebras Have Stripes. Maybe

Many theories exist to explain the striped coat of the zebra—that it helps the animals recognize one another, that it camouflages them in tall grass and confuses predators—but the results of a new study seem to suggest that it evolved for another reason entirely. It appears that the zebra's black-and-white stripes are unattractive to blood-sucking flies. Researchers found that horseflies were most attracted to dark-colored horses, whose coats reflect horizontally polarized light. White coats reflect unpolarized light that was found to be much less attractive to flies. Least attractive, however, was the zebra's coat, which reflects light in alternately polarized and unpolarized patterns.

Don't out me! :(

It is all Lab. If you do not believe me you can ask the drooly Kong sitting at my feet.

I've never had a "just" Lab...

They was always breeds of some sort. What do you get with a Lab mixed with a Dalmatian?

An extraordinarily stupid animal with boundless energy and a penchant for digging...

... in everyone else's yard...

This one is a little bit of a wild child.

If avalanche victims smelled like tennis balls she would make an awesome rescue dog.

How about a Zdonk?

Very cute. Brown but with black and white stripes on the legs and around the eyes.
