Gods....who would ahve thought that Animal Ant Farm's cover of michael Jacksons "Smooth criminal" would give me the sudden urge to jump into my car, blast the radio, and race the freeway doing 95...or more........

*rocking along*

its scary I know.....

I saw the video and thought to myself dam where have i heard tha song before. Now I know.

A now I got System of a Down and "Spiders" playing....God I need to burn some rubber tomorrow...I can just feel it!!!

Ashamed I know this....

it is Alien Ant Farm.

Not exaclty my cup of tea but it had to take some balls to put this song out.

LOL. I stand corrected...It still makes me wanna hit the roads big time though.

I know the feeling

I indulged in a long, destination-less road trip last week. Glad I got it in before winter strikes.

May I suggest "swastika eyes" by Primal Scream for your speed-racer needs.

I'll try that one MM.

You know what is really scary though.....I took the time to learn to play smooth criminal.......

Looks like I have some ideas for my new driving cd compilation.

AAF Rocks!

Hey.. Saw the thread and couldn't help myself.. But Alien Ant Farm fucking rocks.. Their style is unique in so many ways, and the way they just explode on the stage in live concert is fucking incredible.. If you ever get the time, and the cash, be sure to hit up one of their shows.. Not only is the music kick ass, but there's plenty of teeny-boppers flashing their perky, firm tits and showing off their fine asses..

Some worth checking out....

from a mix a freind recently sent me. Too tired to put together a better list so I'm grabbing a few off this.

Queens of the Stone Age-lost art of keeping a secret

Crystal Method-busy child

Frank Black-headache

Frank Black and the Catholics-i switched you

Imperial Teen-yoo hoo

Jeff Beck-earthquake

Le Tigre-deceptacon (I love this band)

MC Paul Barman-mtv get off the air part 2

Miles Davis-yesternow (this is very long)

PJ Harvey-dry

Sleater Kinney-you're no rock 'n' roll fun

....all of these were on the mix and i would deem them good road tunes.

For an absolutley Killer road song get "trucker's atlas" by the band Modest Mouse.

I would also suggest the entire "at action park" album by Shellac...an acquired taste though, like it if you like slint or rodan.

gawd, I have been SO addicted to them lately.

Angel, I know the feeling, something always draws me back to them.

If you havnt, take a peek at killrockstars.com, they have some mpegs and info on more of their stuff.

If you havnt checked out their album "dig me out", do so soon.

the ultimate road song?

IMHO, is Ministry
"jesus built my hotrod"
I can't believe no one mentioned this one.

I must just be getting old or something, because I haven't heard of 75% of these groups.

One of the few though, is AAF, and I saw the behind the video show for Smooth Criminal a few months ago, and nearly dismissed them right away, because they claimed they'd never heard the song before, or knew that Michael Jackson had anything to do with it. Though I do like their version ALOT better, than his.

I don't care what music is playing

Xander.. can i ride you.. errr I mean...go for a ride with you?:D ;)

I have to agree. I find it tasteless that a band that no one has ever heard of had to remake a very popular song in order to be "heard", rather than being creative of their own talent. What next? Men Without Hats remaking "Thriller"?

Most bands that appear like AAF has been roaming the underground music scene for years and years.

Most stay in the underground, but few does make something mainstream like "Smooth Criminal* and becomes known to those who doesn't know or take the time to dig into the underground music scene once in a while.

Advice...try it. There is such a huge number of really really good musicians, and every kind of style. Its amazing what you can find there :)

I don't like the song. :(

I didn't like it when Michael Jackson did it, though, either.

Am I weird?
