The ONLY year you can listen to for the rest of your life. What is it, and why... {before going to calculators and release dates}.

I'm being strict with myself as well.

94. Veruca Salt, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, I think I get Frente, Maybe a late stones, maybe a Bowie. I get me Roxette, and Pink Floyd, Tool, Nine Inch Nails.... The Tea Party, mmmm, Radiohead.

I want to change my selection every time I think of what I just miss out on, but thats kinda the point of it.

I'm not even asking what age you are... just your Desert Island discs are from one year

1685 - If you don't know why, your opinion on anything else is of no consequence.:)

Anything that sounds like that will
do.
Why limit me?

Because with no limits, its called living now with no thought to where your music comes from.

I'm sorry that it seems kinda obvious, just cause it is.

And as for that, so you limit yourself to what came out in 1685, good for you. Can you name anything that came out then that you know?

i'm only playing if i can use a neptunian calender. otherwise you can get fucked.

Earth years, motherfucker. And I was thinking of you crafting the question too. If it was when you avoided new music, the answer would be none of the above... but theres a bunch of years there is a wasteland, and theres only albums from people that existed years ago that kept you going....

Unfortunately, it seems post about ohhhh 98 isnt great. At least for me, you know, when I was born and all.

I chose the first option because it includes almost all the classical composers.

While I like some modern music there is so much produced before the 1950s including Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Haydn, Handel... (continue for hundreds of composers' names) ... that outweigh all the good stuff produced since 1950 to date.

'70's for me:

bowie, pink floyd, queen, elton john, t-rex, simon & garfunkel, lou reed & the velvet underground, dire straits, moody blues, cream, yes, e.l.o, jefferson airplane, jethro tull, led zeppelin, thin lizzy, stevie wonder, the eagles, al green, the beatles, fleetwood mac, rolling stones, rod steward, the police, don mclean, alice cooper! omg mott the hoople as well, and the hollies, gary numan, kraftwerk, elvis costello, stealers wheel, roxy music, michael jackson...

sure i've left out some but the 70's was a bounteous decade

well it had decade on the poll. if it had to be one specific year, i'm gonna have to get back to you after some thinking.

70s for sure. Probably will find most people will choose the decade of their impressionable youth.

60s and 90s where good. 60s for the lead up to the 70s and the 90s when R&R managed to throw off the influence of the big hair metal bands and Flock of Seagulls. The 80s was a bad decade for good rock and roll. Punk kept the fire burning.

Oh, and 1996 for me.

Because that's when the album that made me want to make music was released.

You can guess which one, but you'll probably be wrong.

Spice girls? Celine Dion? ;)

This is a very, perhaps even impossibly, difficult question. I'm not sure I have an answer.

No, I'm quite sure I don't have an answer at the moment.
