Your writing process

I try to imagine my story in various formats while I edit it. On Lit, on AO3, etc. And I try to imagine my characters are reading it and if they’re ok with the portrayal. A detached yet loving muse is also there, always, with an editor looking over their shoulder. And sometimes the muse and editor switch spots.

I believe there are two types of writers: there are architects and there are gardeners.

Architects painfully plan out every details, constructing the narrative methodically brick by brick.

Gardeners, throw down seeds, water it, and see what happens. With luck, you have something salvageable.

I am of the gardener variety. My ramblings have a life of their own and I just prune the growth.

Art is tricky like that.
I like this philosophy. I'm the gardener type also. Having just entered the erotica genre, I just start writing and it grows with the water of imagination. I usually have one simple idea or character in my mind then just start there and let it flow. Edit and spellcheck and check at the end for continuity. I'm a sober writer in recovery for many years, which surprisingly has increased my creativity, especially sexually, whereas I thought it might dull it. This is by far the most exciting and fun genre I've adventured into with my writing. I have my second story pending. Fingers crossed. I hope to publish it and many more to come. I'll be looking you up!
