Your story posting delay

If this thread survives, use it to post how many days it took your submission to become visible, after you posted it. The idea is that when someone posts a story, they can look here to get some idea how many days of delay they can expect, based on other people's recent history. If your story is long, maybe mention that; we can see if longer stories encounter more delay.

I like the idea because I get a certain amount of "when can I read your next chapter?" from people, and I hate having to tell them "um... anything from a day to ten days."

People may also want to post the name or link to their actual story, as a form of cheap advertising. But if a post just says "2 days" I think it's useful info.

2 days normally. Three days over a Sunday sometimes.

three days for the last two stories (over the last two weeks). Two days for the last two contest entries. Two days for noncontest and one day for contest entries almost uniformly over the year before that.

What happened to the sticky that Laurel updated with delays and such in posting stories?

When readers ask when the next story is coming out ask when you can expect their payment to you or to the site itself to expedite the story that is entertaining them for free on a site that gives it to them for free.

Five days and counting at the moment. Ridiculous.

Don't forget that it's one person who puts the stories up - Laurel.
It's her train set so her rules Rule.

Of course it assumes the Author has done his/her bit correctly.

I've posted three over the last two weeks and the longest was three days over a Sunday. Don't see a problem.

I posted a story on the morning of April 2. It's still pending 8 days later.

That's too long not to PM Laurel about, unless you've resubmitted it in the interim or aren't reading the listing on your submissions page correctly.

I'm putting one in tonight. Normally I like a Friday release so I've been putting them in on Wednesday. But seeing as their is no lock for two days I'll do it tonight and settle for any week day, I don't like weekend releases.

Two Days

It amazes me one person is reading and approving, or denying, all of these stories.

Mine are actually short stories under different titles. Perhaps being shorter helps.
My first story seemed to take forever........... until it was rejected. Me a reject???!!!
After that it was approved and only a few others needed some work. This sets them back again.

One was under the 750 word limit. This surprised me since I am making each chapter a short story to keep them simple. I don't count words.

I noticed most of my short stories take two days. I don't pay attention to what day or time it is when I add a story. I just try to keep several pending as others are approved. Some may have taken three days. But doing it this way I don't pay attention and I get thrilled to see one or two being approved most days.

Another thing that had me worried was my stories are true life adventures when I was told fantasy works better. Possibly because our stories begin as fantasies that turn into reality. The best of both worlds. Write from your heart no matter what you write.

If a half dozen members read my stories I'm happy. If a few leave nice comments I'm even happier. If they leave negative comments that means they also read them and sometimes I learn from their messages.

If they take weeks before being approved at least they become available to anyone willing to read them. In the past I sent my stories by US mail to friends and it took weeks or even months to get replies.

The only thing I'd like changed is rather than adding new titles to the top continue below the first title LIVING OUR FANTASIES. It's human nature to begin at the top.

You can be slightly less amazed--she doesn't actually read most of them, I'm sure. It's still a big task, going on day in and day out.

Denny----------- I do believe that it's like many other things, once they see we are following the rules and try to make decent paragraphs a quick look-over is all that's needed.

My first stories were rejected because I was too honest about certain things which there are rules against. By skipping those parts it's been exciting and fun being here.

I don't think she actually reads even the first stories by authors. The nature of the rejections we see referenced here reflect more of a guess that something isn't meeting the requirements than a pinned down understanding that it doesn't. Again, given the volume, that's not a criticism. (What I would criticize is the wording of rejections, though. The very act of calling it a rejection in the first place. Unless the reason to reject is pinned down, it would be better just to call it a question for clarification--and then reject it if the clarification didn't affirm that the original was OK. In the professional editing world these would be sent in the form of "queries," not "rejections").

Who's Denny?

For the record, my story was released today, nine days after it was posted, and one day after I PM'd Laurel.

livingrfantasies is a couple, so when they post they start off by saying which one it is posting at the moment.

I didn't get the chance to submit mine Sunday so I pit it in around five yesterday and its blocked out showing tomorrow as its release date. So two days
