Your story: BLOCKBUSTER, baby

You have a story, smut, erotic or not. Do you sell your story to the highest bidder or do you have a vision? A vision of your story that you don't want to be sullied and misinterpreted by incompetent directors and actors. Do you sell out, or do you say, "hey, I'm the auteur, my vision, my story, I am master."

I ask because I can think of some really great film writers and visionaries, but their names rarely come up on a marquis in porn or in classic Hollywood or in theory, as auteurs. How underrated are writers? ... writers of film/ video specifically, but if you have other ideas please feel free to share.

Ron Howard (Opie in the old Andy Griffith show, currently a director for those who may not know) once said he'd love to do direct a porn movie, but figured it would "cost" too much in reputation.

As for being auteur, if you're footing the bill do it your way. Otherwise you need to have some flexibility until you have a winning track record and can call all the shots.

I've read some truly great stories in here that would make great movies. Cost is always a factor in movie-making, but the results of some these stories would make for a movie that would surpass that hurdle and open the way for a new genre of movies. Not really porn and not really romance. Somewhere in between them where it's not a chick-flik and not a wank movie, but something both sexes could relate to. I know some stories here make it to the Lit. book, but going beyond the portals here into the RW would have a significant social impact. people are always looking for something new to get into and this would be a great chance to start that.

I will say, though, that I've always wanted the porn films to extend to doing A movies that just include very explicit sex. I approach some of my books as literary works that just include very explicit sex.

If I'm not careful a story sometimes creeps into my smut.

Sex should become mainstream and be featured in movies. i bet the grosses would be amazing and make producers think about making more. It would be a great way for writers to make it into the bigs, with their work. There's enough story material in here alone that would be woth hundreds of millions in movie rights.
