The inimitable Lords of Acid got a mention in another current thread, and made me wonder. If you had to put a soundtrack to some of your stories, or some of your favourite stories -- the sexy music that gets you going as much as good erotic prose would -- what would you choose?

Some picks that come to mind for me would be D'Angelo's Untitled, the Police's Every Breath You Take, Idle Eyes' Tokyo Rose, George Michael's Father Figure, and perhaps above all (right now) Bjork's Come To Me (not a fit for most of my writing, admittedly, but awesomely sexxay easily in the league of Barry White or Dusty Springfield). That's just scratching the surface.

Which tracks would you choose?

"Father Figure" does it for me every single time.

And I'd add Springsteen's "I'm on Fire".

Some real nice suggestions from people so far. D'Angelo sounds as good as Dinah Washington, brilliant. Bjork too in this one.

I'm impressed by the seduction music taste of all of you guys.

The theme music from Elvira Madigan (Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 21 In C, 2nd Movement Theme) for a sensual fuck.

Raisins and Almonds springs to mind too, but for something a bit wilder.

I just finished drafting my Nude Day contest entry and it's set to "Laura" from the Gene Tierney movie of the same name.

I haven't yet, but one of my next couple of stories I'd like to write will be to this, by MLWTTKK. Perhaps better for foreplay than as the actual soundtrack to the deed.

Sex on Wheels :D

God there are so many great tracks, aren't there?

All depends on the kind of sex partner(s) too though, imo. Some pieces work better with some people, other pieces suite different people...

And the kind of audio system you have!

This is the LEAST avant garde song I have under my sleeve. It's right in the middle, neutral, but full of life, with real-looking people making the music:

Jes Brieden and BT 'Every Other Way.'

Depends on my mood, and the mood of the story... ;)

Whole Lotta Love
Lemon Song
Trampled Underfoot
Custard Pie
Wanton Song ("Silent woman in the night, you came, Took my seed from my shaking frame") - Led Zep

Need Your Love So Bad - really early Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green)

Let's Stay Together - The Right Reverend Al Green

These Arms of Mine - Otis Redding

Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye

Ball and Biscuit - White Stripes

Caress Me Down - Sublime

Freak Me - Silk (a friend used to describe songs like this one and Boys 2 Men's I'll Make Love to You as "belly scrapers")

Need You Tonight - INXS

Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner

Foxy Lady - Jimi Hendrix

Closer - NIN

Pony - Ginuwine

But . . . but . . . No one's mentioned Ravel's "Boléro" yet. :D

Or the 1812 Overture. ;)

Thanks for that list Katiecat, reminded me of a couple of great tracks I haven't listened to in a long time (esp. Wanton Song and Ball & Biscuit).

Chakachas "Stories". And I'll second or third the nomination of NIN's "Closer".

Edit to add Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero", Leonard Cohen's (or Jeff Buckley's) version of "Hallelujah".

You are most welcome. This is a fun post, lots of great suggestions =)

Couple more:

Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard

Velvet Green, Hunting Girl - Jethro Tull (I wrote a story based on Hunting Girl)

Tonight's the Night - Rod Stewart

Slow Ride - Foghat

Stir It Up - Bob Marley

I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl - Nina Simone

Tell Me Something Good - Rufus and Chaka Khan

Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good

Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love

Gomez - How We Operate

The Black Keys - I'll Be Your Man

Still of the night - White snake

Lick it up - Kiss. (Though any of their back catalogue would work rather well depending on the dirty deed at hand!)

Closer - Nine inch nails.

Ball & Biscuit - White Stripes

Sex machine - James Brown

Feel like making love - Roberta Flak

Tom Cat - Muddy Waters

Love to Love you baby - Donna Summers

I wonder what a psychologist would make of everyone's choices?

Of course Closer NIN

I'll add more later if I look for more it will become today's excuse not to go for a run.

I felt so OLD the day I realised that kids who were conceived to "Closer" are now old enough to vote... but my favourite NIN for this purpose is their cover of "Physical".

Gary Numan's "Pure" for darker BDSM scenes. ("I want to feel you hesitate/I want to feel you pull away/I want to feel you realise/That I am not Love come to play").

For gentler moods: Peter Gabriel's "Passion" (whole album), Einsturzende Neubauten's "Sabrina".

That Gary Numan song is pretty killer.

Wow, this can be a real rabbit hole:

Blonde Redhead - Love or Prison
Portishead - Glory Box (and Roads, maybe even moreso)
The Baby Namboos - hard to pick one, but maybe Holy (or Hard Times)
FKA Twigs - Pendulum
The Weeknd - Wicked Games (and a bunch of other tracks too)
Peaches - Fuck the Pain Away
Uffie - Ready To Uff
Die Antwoord - I Fink U Freeky
Handsome Boy Modeling School feat. Cat Power - I've Been Thinking
Jeff Buckley - Everybody Here Wants You
Lykke Li - I Know Places
Black Oak Arkansas - Hot 'n Nasty

These may be more about associations and memories than the songs themselves:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Rich
Cat Power - He War
K-Os - The Love Song
