Decades ago I returned from Vietnam and was walking in the downtown area.

A girl stopped me in front of the County Building and said, "Did you graduate from Central High School a few years ago?"

I replied, "Yes, I did."

The girl said, "I know you who you are! You were a senior and I was a sophomore that had a crush on you! I used to run out of my classroom to yours and follow behind you between classes. I loved you so much, but you never even noticed that I was walking behind you. I be that you don't even know who I am."

I replied, "No, I don't."

[I looked at her and she was a fairly pretty girl, but decided to discount and continue on my way.]

When I started walking, "She screamed I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!"

Conclusion:

When looking back on this memory, I should have offered to have lunch together so we can talk more.

Instead, I just walked away and hurt a person's feelings.

I'm sorry.

In my future past I will deeply regret having opened this thread.
