Why does literotica only support amazon, Patreon and Smashwords on the "support author" option and not your own website? What if you sell books directly from your website? That would be way more supportive for each and every writer instead of buying through third parties.

1) You can already add a link to your website on your profile.
2) The support feature is still in beta, and not entirely free of technical issues.
3) Because of the beta-ness, they probably want to limit the potential destinations to well-known platforms that support those kinds of features, at least until they have a stable version to release.
4) Related to #3, they might always want to control the target links to make sure users aren't sending potential supporters to phishing sites or some other scam.

I think letting me reference my publisher's Web site and announce my marketplace book launches is quite enough for a site like Literotica to be doing in support of authors--and only as long as they are active authors on Literotica.

Noting also that even if the link is legit at the time the user creates it, that doesn't mean it'll stay legit. Sites can get hacked. Or an attacker could wait for the domain registration to expire then snap it up.

Why should Literotica allow an "amateur writer" to submit one story in order to take advantage of the free advertising for his or her own site? Would there have to be a minimum number of stories the author had to submit in order to take advantage of it? How would Literotica check each link to make sure it was indeed a writer hoping to sell his or her stories or just another pay porn site? It would happen that way, just as most amateur pic sites constantly have a "contributor" submit one pic with a link to another pay site. Sometimes all there is is the link. By supporting these known sites, Literotica is able to offer the function without having to check each link.

I agree. I'm not complaining.

I kind of suspected that was the case, and you're right. You wouldn't be fooled into clicking a malware website, but that's unlikely if the writer has a reputation with let's say 100+ stories on the website.

It would help if we could post more than one link where readers might buy our particular brand of poison!
