Based on what I am sure we are all seeing taking place, and the various reports coming out of Iraq at the moment, do any of you feel that the fierce resistance of Iraq is based on these factors?
1/ A case of better the devil you know, than the devil you don't?
(Reports suggest the Shia and common Iraqi's do not want a post war presence of US and British troops. They also feel that those in exile are out of touch of what Iraqi needs are, and have sold out on their fellow people to gain power and control to lines their own pockets and America's)
2./ America's war analysts seriously have got it wrong and haven't a proper alternative to counter what is now becoming apparent?
(They expected the people to rise up and the regime would fold quickly from their superior technology. This hasn't happened and the regime is gaining strength by disrupting the coalition's advance. The time factor is playing against them and now the weather has changed. This sandstorm was predicated weeks ago, and that is why the push to Baghdad was so forthright. It is now a case of all helicopters are grounded and the Iraqi defences in Baghdad are now firing rockets at the coalition's positions 80 km outside of Baghdad, causing retreats.)
3./ Saddam has clearly stated that orders have been given for troops to use chemical weapons if the allies advance to Baghdad further, do you think he will do this?
(Saddam's personal military unit, the Fedayeen are now in control over overseeing army commanders objectives and it is these militia that are the most brutal and fierce. Who will make the decision to advance allied forces when if a vote was taken tomorrow on whether to go in or not, the world I would say would vote 95% against it based on knowing Saddam is backed into a corner, and fighting for survival)
4./ The coalition is adamant they will remove him and succeed in their objectives, do you think that this could now be a case of worrying times?
(If he does use chemical weapons, what will happen then, based on the Operation being called Iraqi Freedom, and yet if they drop a nuke, there will be no one left to enjoy that freedom other than the US who will have Iraq all to themselves.)
