We've got a few movie threads running and on one Imp said Bull Burham is her all-time favorite, which sparked this one. We love a lot of movies, but you can only pick one. One movie that's your all-time favorite - and no fair changing it tomorrow. :)

Mine is The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker and Luke Perry. I can't help it. When I'm surfing channels and I come across it I'm stuck and it always makes me smile. The Outlaw Josey Wales was my previous favorite movie.

What's yours?

Gee, guess I don't need to answer this. ;)

Running a close second is Dangerous Liaisons.

It's a tie between The Sting and My Dinner with Andre.

The five-hour cut of Das Boot is right up there though.

Nope. Unless you change your mind day after tomorrow. It's hard to pick a favorite - I was captured recently by The Descent. And Black Hawk down always rivets me. But The Fifth Element wins.

The Shawshank Redemption.

Morgan Freeman seems perfect in almost anything.

Don't ask me why but "Always" Is my favorite....

I have many, each from a different genre and/or time. But my all time fav is Sgt. York.

Bringing Up Baby is my favorite comedy of all time, for sure and probably my fave movie really. I've watched it more than any other movie and I never get tired of it.

My favorite war movie is probably The Longest Day.

It's hard to decide, I have a mile long list of favorite movies of all genres.

Tough call, as there are several films I could watch over and over again -- Airplane, Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Anything Monty Python, His Girl Friday and This is Spinal Tap.

But would have to say all-time favorite is Casablanca
-- "Here's looking at you, kid"
-- "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
-- "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By.'"
-- "Round up the usual suspects."
-- "We'll always have Paris."
-- "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."

Close second is all-time favorite comedy in Animal Crackers
-- "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know."
-- "We took some pictures of the native girls, but they weren't developed. But we're going back again in a couple weeks!"

So hard to choose, I agree.

For most beautifully perfected as a whole - I think it would have to be "Farewell, My Concubine." It just does so very many things so extremely well.

That said, it's hard to think of a movie I return to more regularly and with more pleasure than "The Princess Bride."

Buffalo 66
the matrix
gladiator
fearless with jeff bridges

Moulin Rouge and Strictly Ballroom are always guaranteed to put a smile on my face. I probably watch them a few times every year.

I also loved Brazil and the Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Depends on my mood. Sometimes it's Apocalypse Now, sometimes it's Life of Brian.

I can't pick just one. Really, I can't. But my Top Five would have to be:

Brotherhood of the Wolf
Plunkett & Macleane
Cousins (Ted Danson & Isabella Rosselini)
Princess Bride
From Dusk Till Dawn

oh shit how could I forget brotherhood of the wolf! I love that movie!

I'll have to agree. the beginning staff fight..the fight where he does the flip with the two guys..the fight scenes at the end.. and when the girls get eaten...man o man! I love that movie!
