A movie, a book, t.v. series, your friend, a story, etc.

I am much into quotes, especially uplifting and motivational quotes to help me get through the day.

What is yours?

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

From Journaling to keeping quotations ...

I am very similar - except most that I have written down in recent years, appear, at least initially, Dark. Now have a whole notebook full of them (especially movies and tv - Way too much time on my hands.)

Any way, grabbed the book - these are the last two written in it:

"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside of us, while we live."
- Norman Cousins (who wrote a Lot of books about the power of positive thinking while going thru grave and terminal illnesses. !)

"I can't let you do that!"
"You don't have a choice. You breath, and you risk your life. The only thing you can choose, is what you risk it for"
- Herchsal from tonight's airing episide of "The Walking Dead"

P.S. Your avatar is Awsome and LUCIOUS !!

Yeah....

"there's no way (for a vampire character) to get from portland to seattle before the sun rises"

"What do I have, two hours? We jump in my midlife crisis mobile and hit the gas."

"It's normally a four hour trip of around 180 miles. You'd have to be going close to 100 miles an hour the whole way!"

"Yup"

"ok so you get pulled over-"

"these aren't the droids you're looking for."

In my flabbergasted pause the second player, who has been silent in this exchange thus far, looks at the first player "so do you have some creepy mind control powers?"

"I don't have any creepy mind control powers."

"you don't have any creepy mind control powers."

I couldn't stop laughing for a good ten minutes.

THAT is Fucking FUNNY. What is that from?

" I feel like I'm Han Solo, and you're Chewie, and she's Ben Kenobi, and we're in that fucked-up bar."

The inscription on the north face of the Boston Public Library:

"THE COMMONWEALTH REQUIRES THE EDUCATION OF THE PEOPLE AS THE SAFEGUARD OF ORDER AND LIBERTY"

Col. Jessup (Jack Nicholson): You want answers?

Lt. Kaffee (Tom Cruise): I think I'm entitled...

Col. Jessup: You want answers?

Lt. Kaffee: I want the truth!

Col. Jessup: You can't handle the truth!

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives.

And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it!

I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Lt. Kaffee: Did you order the Code Red?

Col. Jessup: I did the job...

Lt. Kaffee: Did you order the Code Red?!

Col. Jessup: You're goddamn right I did!

..... I could make a very, very long post if I chose to take the time. lol
Since the OP included "your friend", here are just a few of my favorite quotes from the writing message board I'm on:

"You sit down somewhere, intending to be productive, and next thing you know duct tape is everywhere and you've been handcuffed to the desk."
-Kandy

"Writing this novel is like making tea with a cheese grater. IT DOESN'T WANT TO HAPPEN."
-Isi

"Did I tell you about the Rice Krispies treats we had to hammer out of the pot with a chisel? (No, seriously.) Made them for a sleepover, and it became a party game.
Honestly. I killed Rice Krispies treats. There's like, three ingredients!"
-KD

.... And, since I'm currently obsessed with the show Once Upon a Time, some of my favorite quotes from there (most from memory, 'cause I'm that obsessed):

"Not having someone, that's the worse curse imaginable."
-Regina

"Good loses. Good always loses because good has to play fair. Evil doesn't."
-Henry

"True love's kiss will break any curse."
-Regina

"Love, true love is magic, and not just any magic but the most powerful magic of all."
-Regina
