I'm in a nostalgic mood today. Brought on by the pleasant, sunny weather. It's been damn hot in the South this summer, and at times dangerous to go outside. I think that's over, though. As I look outside, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the light has this wonderful quality that I can't describe. I've even turned off the AC! It reminds me of the autumns in Germany, and the wonderful times I had there. Which leads in to the main topic.

What is your favorite item of clothing? Is there a story attached to it?

My favorite is my brown leather jacket. The same one in my pic on my web site. I bought it for $100 at the BX in Germany. I had never owned a leather jacket before, and we were actually shopping for one for my hubby. He didn't find anything he liked that was in his size. While killing time, I was browsing, and found this jacket. I liked it, but was reluctant to buy it. He talked me into it, and it quickly became my favorite piece of clothing. I've had it for many years, now, and I still love it. It's gone many places with me, and I've had some interesting times while wearing it. It doesn't get much use now that I live in the South, but now that fall is rolling around, I expect to be able to wear it without incurring heat stroke! LOL I've probably bored everybody, so I'm done.

Is it a bomber Jacket, April? *smooch*

would be great up here today........60 degrees. I like my Clint Eastwood Poncho....but I got a black leather biker Jacket too that I like

My favorite item varies sometimes. But overall, I find any of my hubby's flannel shirts are my favorites.
Though of my own, a scarf my husband gave me a couple years ago. It is super soft and rainbow colored and wonderful. I like it for those reasons and because he said it was full of his hugs and kisses. That way when he cannot be around, he traveled alot then, I could have him with me.
I know, silly and romantic. The way I am.

I've had several items over the years that I've worn to death.

My favorite right now is a great fitting pair of jeans, comfortable and broken in perfectly. They are almost to the point of serious disintegration, but I'm going to nurse them along until they are spiderwebs. I just love them.

Womanlover, I don't know. I don't understand jacket styles. I just know that if I ever lost it, I would be inconsolable.

I have this old shawl collared curling sweater that my gramp left me. Its getting kind of ragged but I wear it around the house sometimes. Both for its sentimental value and its warmth. That and an old LL Bean Field coat that I have, it too brings back some happy memories.

My Georgetown Hoyas sweatshirt. I've had it for 12 years and have worn it to death.

I wore it:

On the plane to Lackland AFB
On the plane to RAF Alocnbury, UK
To the hospital when my oldest was born
To the hospital when my youngest was born
On the plane home from Minot AFB

It has paint smudges from:

My first dorm in the USAF
My oldest's nursery
The bookcases I made for my kids
My parent's living room

That sweatshirt has been to three different countries and 15 states. I love that sweatshirt.

I have a black shirt I've been using in my act for, like, 15 years now, and it shows no sign of wearing. I love it because it never wrinkles, so I can pull it out of my suitcase and go right to the show, and has one of those no collar collars, so I never have to worry about a tie. Sharp looking and low maintenance care. I love it.

Speaking of Bomber Jackets. My father's hangs in my downstairs closet. It's not the original he wore in WWII - that one wore out from use - but this one dates from the early fifties. I've only worn it a couple of times but I often pull it out of the closet and just inhale the smell of the leather and run my hand through the fur around the collar. It's the closest thing to an heirloom that I've got and so I guess that makes it my favorite. :)

Gaucho I do the same thing with my grandfathers Air Force uniforms. They are almost like some kind of talisman.

If that makes me sound flaky, fuck it. Its true

You know, I don't really think I have a fave piece of clothing. There's really nothing that I can classify as either on my body or in the wash. I'll have to think on this one, but right now, I think I'm probably about the only person who doesn't have something like that.

Flaky? Who cares. I'll keep this short and simple. When my father died, I got exactly two things from him. Actually, we all went in his room and picked out some personal things that we wanted. Another story for another day.

I chose one of his waffle weave flannel plaid shirts, which I wear sometimes when I'm cold, and his only pair of cuff links. Cuff links? Yes, cuff links. I've taken one and threaded it through a silver chain I have, and wear it sometimes. Usually on the anniversary of his death.

I have a washed out sweatshirt that has gone through many winters in many places. The faded front has an emblem with the Swiss Cantons surrounding it. It reminds me of one of my favorite places in the world each time I wear it. Switzerland, the Jungfrau from Interlaken, the Matterhorn from Zermatt or the Gornergrat...

Why do you suppose that is, Ex? Is it the fact that they are a legacy from something incredible that we missed out on? I know the other thing I really miss about my dad (he's still alive btw, but living in California and we don't get to talk like we once did) is the stories that he would tell us (always reluctantly; we had to prod him about it) about the war and his experiences in it.

I've got more to say on the subject, if anybody's interested, but I've stolen enough of April's thread already.

I think thats part of it Gaucho, although i've been close enough to war that I no longer find it "romantic".

I think they help me remember him, at his best. Those and the pictures. Even though they are from an era long befor I was even born they evoke all my memories of "who" he was.

I think thats an excellent idea for a thread.

Sorry to hijack April.

I guess I have no favs.......

But if I had to pick a uniform to live with, forever (and maybe be buried in, except I'm ashing out over a tomato garden) - I'd wear: My nearly one-of-a-kind because it's heavily manly in silver & gold, Claddagh wedding ring - my black Navy Seal diving watch given to me by my old salt, former WWII Sea Bee dad - black jeans, not too tight but no baggies either - a black designer T-shirt (expensive but they simply fit better) - my golden/tan, very worn, re-soled and re-healed many times, "no Texas fairy frills or stitching," Cowboy boots - and my mid-calf length, button front, quido (mobster) type (Robert DeNiro) black leather jacket, collar up on top - a cool pair of dark black sun-glasses and of course no undies under.

During the war my father was stationed in the Pacific. Once, while out in the middle of nowhere, he and some shipmates decided to take some r&r at a nearby deserted island. Well, one thing led to another (I have no idea what they were drinking or how they got it) and my father ended up stripped naked, except for a belt that had a small sword hanging from it. His buddies left him behind on the island and he had to swim to the ship (not a great distance) and somehow get back on board and into his quarters without being seen. I don't remember now exactly how he managed it but to this day, the mental image of my father stripped naked with just a belt to hide behind brings a grin. :)

On a more serious note, I don't know how many of you remember when the miniseries "Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" were first telecast. On this particular day, we were out sailing in San Diego bay on a friend's boat. My father (who retired out a Commander) was talking with one of his contemporaries (who retired out a Captain) and they were telling stories about their interaction with some of the people in the miniseries. People like Halsey and Nimitz and many others. It was so strange, like listening to a living history book. Needless to say, I kept very quiet and just drank in their conversation as though it was a fine vintage that had been uncorked solely for my pleasure.

My combat boots.

I know, it sounds stupid, but I've had those boots for several years, they still fit, don't smell, and bend really well. I wore those things to New York, Florida, Loisiana, Nevada, and have replaced the laces sixteen times. I love my boots.

Favorite item for me to wear: my black micro-miniskirt,
what I like to call my "fuck me" skirt. I paired it
with a dark-blue blouse the very first time my Frank
and I "made it" (to paraphrase How Stella Got Her Groove Back: "Fucked him! Did the Humpty-Hump! Did the Bumpty-Bump!") over 4 years ago, and my Literotica story called Outfits shows me wearing that outfit:

http://www.literotica.com/storyxs/stories/o_p_1001_e0.shtml

I wonder how the photos there will affect Purple Haze and
his serious wood?

That same skirt is mentioned in another story, Welcoming the Millenium, which has me wearing it with no underwear
and bending over the supermarket freezer case--sorry, no
photos of that, use your imagination.

In late June, I turned 50, and he turned 45 a week later.
I paired up my fuck-me skirt with my brown satin cowgirl
shirt and cowgirl boots, I wrote a story based on that
and it has photos of me in that outfit, but Laurel has
yet to post that story.

This same skirt has figured prominently in 3 of my
stories (actually 4, it was in my first story of how
we met and first did "the nasty"), so I would have
to say this is my favorite piece of clothing, for how
sexy it makes me feel and how well it turns HIM on.

My favorite item for HIM to wear: a G-string. The
aforementioned (how's that for a $5 word?) Outfits story
shows him in his tiger-print G-string, but I prefer his
black-mesh G-string that hides NOTHING! MMMM, de-licious!
Sorry, girls, I don't have a photo of that to share,
but trust me, he looks SCRUMPTOUS in it!

Hmm, I'm gonna have to build me a web site to put our
photos on--it takes too long before they show up in my
stories. I know HTML & have done some web sites (not
about sex), so I know I can do this.
