Your favorite character in your stories

I think my favourite characters are the ones which definitely aren't me or me-tweaked-a-bit.

Contenders would be Adrian and Dan from Smoking Hot, who ended up with not only a 14-part series but two sequels. Laura from that series has been a right pain in the arse to get to know and produce another story with, but now I know her well enough and it's working, except for now being 70% of the way through a 100k word story...

Also Ali from Wheelchair Bound? who is pissed off about chronic illness getting in the way of her kinky sex with her girlfriend.

I don't really write unpleasant people because there's enough of them in the world, but Richie (I Say Ass...Again, and the current draft with Laura) likes to make it clear that yes, he's got poor social skills *and* he's an arrogant arsehole.

Though the unnamed Witness in my only attempt at Erotic Horror, a sort of incubus/succubus/mindeater, was fun to write, so they'll reappear eventually.

Oh, crap, I hate this question, lol...

Mike appears in several of my stories, but Mike is me and I am Mike, so that's kinda cheating. I have a huge crush on Karen and Alexa, with a slight edge to Karen, since I can write more things about her. Alexa, beautiful and charming as she is, is something of a MacGuffin sometimes, and I'm working to correct that.

I've come to love Nanu, because her worldview is so completely different from anyone else's. A former Egyptian slave trying to deal with the modern world and absolutely nothing makes sense to her, often rightly so. She finds our mores on the whole to be rather stupid. ("If your society is so free, why must I wear this clothes?" "Why can adults dress like young people and you can have sex with them when it is illegal to have sex with young people?" "Who left the Britons and their descendants in charge? They paint themselves blue. That was a stupid idea...")

Gah. I am gonna say Karen. She's beautiful, she's hyper-intelligent, incredibly well-bred, and has a wry sense of humour. It's a horrible question with horrible choices, but I'll say Karen, my golden-eyed matriarch.

Interesting. I just wrote my own jerk out of the story because he treated one of the ladies badly. Not physically abusive, but his approach to women was as objects. He wore out his welcome when he blatantly disrespected the Harvard lawyer character; she was and is not somebody to be trifled with.

At the moment? Probably Bubbles!

Yes, she's well aware her name is a tad bit silly, but she also doesn't care. Because getting her to care about anything and keep her caring about it is a bit of a chore. Life is for the living, and the living wanna have fun!

She's a lighthearted catgirl, but she can have a darker side, now and then. I'd say ask the ivyk who got her pregnant, but his house was mysteriously reduced to ash with him inside it. Nothing at all to do with Bubbles' truly obsessive and insane thief side-piece.

It's always a ton of fun to throw Bubbles in yet another awful situation, and watch her try and squirm her way out of it. Like when her fuck buddy's wife thinks she deserves a turn with Bubbles, so she sneaks out the window.

Holy crap!

John Abernathy who was in a bunch of stories that are all linked together yet not really a series but are a series. He just happens to be able time travel, see into the future and the past, have multiple lives in different universes, all with the same people, except the bad guys, around him, interacting with him, in some cases have sex with him.
They are in a series except for one...
JAA Ch. 01: Aftermath,
JAA Ch. 02: Time and Again,
JAA Ch. 03: The Kings Undoing,
JAA Ch. 04: Lives of John Abernathy,
JAA Ch. 05: R E R U N,
Winds of Change which is not listed in the series and is the last of the series.

Then there is Ezra Nichols as Captain/Admiral of Warrior One Fleet Action, an 8 part series. Or as one read dubbed it, Celts in Space.
Another Character in that same series, Gillian Saraid who starts out as Lieutenant and winds up as a Commander, (Naval designations). Plus so many other notable characters.

Others... too many to note. Almost all my characters are my favorites, they are all based on friends I've had over the years.

One of my favorite characters isn't a person at all, but an irascible, garrulous penis, with a complicated relationship with his owner, who has a brain (and almost a conscience.) He'd be a tiresome seat-mate on a long bus or train journey, but always would be ready with an amusing quip or a story.

Sophia in the Infernal stories is a charming, erudite and engaging scholar in a male-dominated world, and Lisa, with her own desires and kinks, provides a wide range of off-beat anecdotes and case-studies on male sexual arousal and behavior.

Easy choice for me: Jenna, from my series The Jenna Arrangement.

She's hands down the most fun and unpredictable character I've written.

I'm sure most of us male writers have written at least one female character based on our "ideal fantasy woman."

But for me, Jenna has evolved beyond a mere sexual fantasy into someone I'd love to actually have a friendship and relationship with.

She's smart, funny, perky, positive, caring, open minded, strong willed, independent, and of course, beautiful.

I get that she's fictional, and obviously I created her.

But I SEE her as a real person. Not just a sexual object.

And I've been told by several readers this comes across, and that they also have a "crush" on her.

Which of course I'm thrilled about, because it means she's as "real" to some readers as she is to me.

I couldn't choose between my children and I love all of mine. Clearly I should start writing more evil/flawed characters *nods

Stickygirl heard a knock on the door. She opened it cautiously to find Hannah channelling Linda Hamilton in that last Terminator movie, looking extremely fierce.

"Oh, dear author of mine, a word..."

Like most writers, I'm attached to them all in some way, but at the moment, my fave is Danni from my two part 'Sur la Mer' series.

She is Ukrainian. She is safe.

I hope her friends and relatives are ok.

My favorite character is from my Second Chance series (not published here.) Glarney Fered is a low class hoodlum who grows younger as he acquires life force. Jahn Loght is a high class hoodlum who grows younger as he acquires life force. Justin Imperiale is a King, then an Emperor, who stays younger, bigger and stronger as he acquires life force and begins to rule his planet. All three are the same man. Since I have well over a century of life to work with, the character development is very complete, but not boring, over 21 novels.

I have a soft spot for Agatha in Agatha Allbut series. I kinda relate to her.

My favorite is either the MC in Gear Jammer or MC in 12 Cams. Both are based on an idealized version of me.

My favorite has to be Aimee from I Didn't Do Anything Wrong

I think I really missed the boat with that story. She could have been developed to a much greater depth. I barely scratched the surface of her backstory.

Stevie from the same story too. Hell, that entire story should have been twice as long if I was a better writer.

I'd have to select two new favorites. One is me, or my fictional alter ego, Simon, who is in a story I'm writing right now, which is a sequel to Lisa And The Pool Boy, and the other is Lisa, the star of first story and of the sequel, who plays a partner and muse to my character. It's my first time writing a story like this one and it's interesting and enjoyable.

I tend to identify with the female protagonists, although I admit that as people they simply don't make sense. Lauren, Melissa, Sharon, to some extent Lucille. There's something wistful about several of them. Aside from having the judgment and sex drives of sixteen-year-old boys, they seem to be set in motion by an unease with the circumstances of their lives and decisions they've made at the beginning. Which is admittedly reading an awful lot into some basic porn storytelling.

Of all the characters in the stories you've written, which is your favorite, and why? You can pick more than one if you can't choose one over the other.

In my case, it's the two characters in my light-BDSM story In The Hallway -- Janna and Tom. I had to think about it for a while, but I settled on them, and I couldn't pick one over the other. It's an erotic D/s encounter between two people who've never had an encounter like that one before. The story was more character-driven than most of my stories. Each of the characters goes through a process of self-discovery and exploration.

What's your answer?
Well, as my story is an unofficial sequel (with permission obtained from contacting the original author) then I’m going to pick the first two characters that are new in that story that are from me.

Nikki and Troy.

Nikki because I loved creating her from nothing and adding her, at first as this distraction to get rid of by the main character, but then as I continued writing, as an ally who helped me in the story and helped my main character because she was with him because of love also. Ah!

And also Troy because although he was a bit of a cliche he was a fun cliche to write. Not so much a villain (and he wasn’t a villain in any way, just a young guy out for himself) but a perfect fun foil for both the main two original characters.

I love those guys.

It's not done yet, but I created this character Ellie. She lives in squalor, has a crap job, and is a social outcast. Still, she's confident, fearless, always setting her term. Wish I could be that way IRL

Tough call but either Ann Cheng from my 14 part series "Mrs. Cheng Pays the Debt" She's based on an old girlfriend who is still, "the one that got away." my second favorite is Luz, a city girl who ends up in the hands of a barbarian in my two-part series "Barbarian Bait."

My OC Roxanne Alt from my Monster Fucking: A Memoir series I have under a different pen name. She's a little librarian looking girl with lilac hair and glasses who was napping on her patio while home alone and woke up to a werewolf about to fuck her. Ever since she's been craving trying all the different flavors if you will. So far she's had werewolf, vampire, witch, centaur, goblin, and ghostface

As I mentioned in an earlier topic, my male leads are Walter Mitty-ish versions of me, so they all jockey for position that way. That said, the characters nearest to my heart are Jason and Emily Kelley, the couple in Naples, Missouri ,because I based them as closely as I have* on myself and my wife.

* My lips will forever remain sealed as to how autobiographical that may or may not be.
