2 big bands in the news. One very cool, one rather irrelevant but interesting.
First the irrelevant one...
Van Halen are reuniting for a tour. Sort of.
David Lee Roth is set to sign a contract with Alex and Eddie Van Halen to do a 40 city tour. This obviously leaves Sammy Hagar out in the cold, but he's not alone. Original bassist Michael Anthony is also not rejoining the band. Instead, he and Sammy are teaming up with a band called, get this, The Other Half, and touring themselves on the strength of Van Halen tunes (both Hagar AND DLR-era). Taking Michael's place? Eddie's 15-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen.
Okay, now for the cool band...
Rage Against the Machine are reuniting as the closing act of The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The band hasn't played together since 2000, when Zack went off to do solo work, which was never forthcoming, and the rest of the band, including Tom Morello joined forces with ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell to form Audioslave. (Morello has recently announced an upcoming solo project as well).
And as a sidenote, Jesus and the Mary Chain will also be reuniting for Coachella.
And now you're up to date.
