Ok this is rather funny

Christmas Eve, so what have I done? 3 loads of washing, a load of dishes, and probably gonna clean the car as well before I go to bed in a completely empty with people 30 square house, to get up to another lazy morn, before going for a 5 hour cruise for christmas dinner. And I like this idea.

OH, but I get to do some drinking for a few hours now too

3 hours to christmas, and drinking.

Figuring out how to get the kid asleep for Santa to come...

I'd try wine, but it turns her bright, bright red.

The Rudolf effect.

Hopefully, some Maker's Mark with the red, white and blue wax. Happy Christmas, Cheffie.

Hmm, what am I doing today? Kids opening presents this afternoon, going with their dad for a family gathering, then coming home and going to bed. Me? I'll be spending it the same way I do any other day.

Merry Christmas, Muppet Boy.

:)

This morning I went out early to buy the booze...

When I came back cut the pork roast I cooked yesterday into half and put both pieces into the freezer. They're for Boxing Day along with ox tongue, ham, turkey cuts and beef - cold cuts day...served with dips, salad, cheeses, pork pie, cake and sparkling wine...

Tasted the Stilton, Brie and Cheddar to make sure they're all up to standard.

Started to bake a chicken piece in onions and tomato for lunch (I can smell it permeating the kitchen right now)...

After that I took the turkey out of the fridge where it's been de-frosting since Sunday evening, cut off the plastic wrapper and left it in a covered dish at room temperature.

This afternoon I'm down to the village to buy apple sauce, ice cream, two ice trays, milk and a couple of paper kitchen rolls. And whilst I'm there I'm going to pop into my local for a pre-Christmas drink...

And tomorrow...

The guests start arriving...

Exhaustion? You don't know the meaning of the word...

Merry Christmas...zzzzzzz....

:D

I'm giving my wallet the day off and taking it easy today. Still got one Christmas present to build. Although it's costing me more in parts, than if I had just bought something ready made from a shop.
Other than that I'm officially on Christmas go-slow, well until tonight anyway. :) :p

Hell with my plans, I am going to ppman's house and raiding the fridge!

oh yeah, and to let ya know. I made a quadruple batch of scalloped potatoes yesterday..........

and forgot to peel the potatoes. What the hell. How the hell can you forget something so basic. Where was my head????? I wasn't even here at Lit when I did it! Though I think they taste fine, and I had washed them well. I am told this is a no no. Tough.

and another thing.... does potatoes have an e at the end? or not?

potato

potatoe

geesh, I might be spending too much time on the BBC.

You're welcome but not to raid the fridge!

To tell you the truth this is the first time I've invited guests to spend Christmas with me for many a long year...

And I'm enjoying every minute of the preparation and the anticipation...

Merry Chistmas...

Yo...ho...ho!

Jim, you.... you.... you.... have a cool av.

Kiss the muppets for me ;)

This Christmas eve I have to work. They will probably let us out early. Very early I hope.

Merry Christmas everyone :)

There is ice mixed in with the rain outside right now. So I'm beginning to wonder if I'll be going to my mothers for our Christmas dinner or not now.

But I have a tradition with my son on Christmas eve.

We turn off all the lights except for the ones on the tree, cuddle up on the couch, play Christmas music and just talk. This usually lasts around 10 to 15 minutes before he can escape. lol

I allow him to open one present from me, which is new Pj's. We set out a plate of cookies, glass of milk, a few carrots - because no one ever thinks to give the reindeer a snack - and a few Hershey kisses.

His night ends with my tucking him into bed and reading to him about the birth of Christ.

Then I busily finish up last minute presents and fill his stocking full of goodies.

He's ten this year and still believes in Santa. I doubt that next year will be the same, I'm sure that he'll have grown out of it... I'm surprised he still did this year to be honest.

So this year is a bit nostalgic for me, for that and other reasons as well... Its like a loss of innocence I suppose when children stop believing.

I hope that each and every one of you, has a wonderful holiday.

I think this will be the last year for my kids too. The older one suspects already and she's only 7 1/2! No doubt when she confirms this, she will tell the 6 year old!

lol Siblings can't wait to inform their brother/sisters of what they know.

Every year he's suspicous, but still believes.

I've wondered this year though if he actually does still believe. Or if he's just allowing us to keep up this charade.

You can probably bet on this :)

I still give my teenager gifts from "santa" just cos I want to.

Exactly. My theory is every child over the age of about 5, maybe 6 at the latest, really knows there is no Santa. They are just smart enough to fool parents into thinking the kids still believe!

I'll be working and wishing I had a nice big box of chocolates to get me through the night :)

This morning: an expensive haircut, and shopping for some cheap furniture for my new apartment - both non-Christmas related.

This afternoon: pick-up mrs. e's expensive piece of custom furniture, haul it home and make a tent in the living room. It'll drive her wild to see but not know. She's such a kid at Christmas:D

Tonight: Quiet dinner, Christmas music, good wine. The son works until late, so maybe we'll watch a Christmas movie - It's a Wonderful Life or something.

Merry Christmas, all

I'll be waiting till the kids go to sleep and getting out all of the presents out.

Filling up their stockings

Pretending to eat the cookies and drink the milk that they have left out.

Then crawling into bed to wait for the 3 am wake up call.

We will all gather as we do every christmas eve, family a few friends....We talk and laugh, play silly games lol....Pictionary look out....It's lots of fun, something that we all look forward to every year....Happy Holidays Cheffie....

I still believe in Santa Claus.

Oh and an addition to my christmas eve, I played monopoly and won, I also got to listen to a beautiful Silent Night with windchimes as the background.
