When I read a new poem that I like I want to read more by that poet. But many of us have dozens of poems and I don't have time to read them all. So help me out. Which poem are you most proud of? What do you consider your best work?
Spare me the humility and the false modesty. There is something you have written that made you sit back and say, "Damn! I'm pretty good!" Tell me which one. Post a link here. Please.

Ask me tomorrow and it will change. I'm giving you two, one erotic and one not.

Erotic: An Evening In Her Garden

Non: Slow Burn Blues

Thanks for popping the cherry on this thread. I figured folks would be shy.

Great line: "She sings about her honey,
She sings about her bad, bad man..."

Real nice stuff.

This is a great thread for readers. Now, I know which poems to check out incase I missed one. Ange, I don't remember the title Lodz. I'm going to read it now. Actually, I don't remember Liar's selection either. Am I missing out on poetry? I thought I read everything. lol

Liar, Ange, commented on your poems. :) Both are wonderful. Both are powerful enough to stick with me for quite awhile.

I think my best are my latest (Berlin-Los Angeles and Porto-Beijing), but I'll say The Stylization of Self. You can also go read my Plastic Love story. Go read it. Now. :D
Stylization is excellent. Always loved that one. :) Though, all of yours are excellent. It's easy to tell that you spend time revising and perfecting each line. (now, don't tell me you just throw them together. ;))

Thanks for the comment, Eve. I read every poem mentioned in this thread, and they are all excellent (well, ok, I didn't read mine right now, but I like em, lol).

You didn't mention any of your poems. It's not easy to pick, imo, because you have so much really great stuff--and great in different ways, you versatile bitch (oops). But you know this is my favorite of yours.

Into the Mountains

I have other opinions, too. Lots. :D

I wish you'd get over that poem! lol I did look at mine last night and found about a dozen really good ones. I couldn't pick, so I read them again and started finding fault with them, so I said, "Oh, forget it!" :D So, wicky ain't playing this game. I'll just read and appreciate what you guys offer.

I can't. I'll read more of your stuff later though and put more favorites in this thread--just to make you say ewwww, why did she pick that?

Hmmm. I think I'll pick on monkey, too. And Cordelia. She wrote that Kandinsky sonnet I love...

Tears of Desire is my favorite of all the poems I've written. Mostly because it came from a very special moment in my life...

Like fishing turds from a toilet

I won't pretend to occupy the stratum of many poets here that consistently present works of art; polished pieces that leave readers awestruck and jealous. Among other skills, I lack the vision to know when I have written one worth reading.

Sex Poem has been a favorite of my own, but the voting is widely disparate. I like to think the low votes are from folks that don't get past the first couple stanzas, but really don't know.

Is it any good?

BTW, Miss O; the personal sentiment in "Tears of Desire" make this a wonderful poem!

Like fly fishing them from the bowl... wow, can't wait to read all your floaters. lol Though, I probably already have.

The winking question? No. I have a twitch.

Funny place for a twitch.

No, the "is it any good?" question. While you're at it, the "What Am I?" question, too.

Such bliss
has not been known since Eve
first polished her apple for Adam’s
ingenuous tongue.

The part above is not good but okay. The rest of the poem is not good. It's great.

Better?

Thanks, Eve, you are a sweetheart nonpareil! ;)

I think it's an improvement. ;)

You know, it can be difficult to deliver a good eve line in a poem. It's not bad, but it's kind of... eh. The rest of the poem is sensationally awesome. I do mean that.

Fly, read it, loved it , commented. Thanks for letting us know about it.

I'm new to the poetry thing so at this stage my favourite is My Provocateur. It possibly won't mean much to anyone else but for me it sums up the nature of a particular relationship very well. It was one of those pieces that almost wrote itself.

Link below.

Thanks Mutt for this thread, it's a great way to get a peak at some wonderful writing. :)
