I used to fall asleep with my dad's am/fm radio under my pillow and running the batteries dead.

I kept radio on at night to catch Chicken Man episode. Yes frequently fell asleep and batteries went dead.

We had a 6v radio that had long wave, medium wave and short wave. Brought over from England with us. Early 60s thing. AM might have been long wave.

That was the radio which informed us of snow days! And school bus delays due to fog.

My dad would tune in BBC and listen to the Goon Show replays and big band music.

Won a pocket transistor radio during a Legion Family Day fishing derby. For smallest fish.

How I wish
I knew then
When I thought
I knew it all
What I know now.

I bought my first transistor radio in 1974. I remember that year, George Jones came out with the song Grand Tour. I also remember listening to Uncle Larry Lujack's Animal Stories on 89, WLS....Chicago.

Since I bought my Samsung galaxy 12.2" note, I'm hooked and almost my entire life revolves around it.
So no more TV or radio for me. I take everything from the net and especially youtube.

Gosh, youtube is like the 8th wonder of the world.
You can find -even accidentally, through mindless browsing- Everything there, from music and movies, to debates and speeches from people you wouldn't even know they existed, otherwise.

We had a shack in the woods at my dad's farm where we used to camp. There was an old radio in it...out of a '56 Buick I think. It was only am.

You assume smooth live that long?

Definitely. And much longer than you and me, actually.;)
He smokes dope, whereas we gobble down beer and wine.
Dope ➡chronic laziness, not much else. Alcohol ➡liver problems, and many others.

That may apply to you, but not me. I neither drink nor smoke. Just got a little coffee addiction.

And smooth may not die from smoking, rather from selling.

Good point about the selling. Forgot how dangerous that underground world is.

I wasn't serious/was trying to joke about the whole matter, but I think it wasn't a good one, sorry.
I'm not a drinker either - only rarely and socially, small amounts.

When I was a child, radios were kind of expensive in China, few families could afford it.
